Target: Secretary Sally Jewell, The U.S. Department of the Interior
Goal: Commend and support Sally Jewell’s views on not tolerating climate change deniers in the Department of the Interior
U.S. Interior Department Secretary Sally Jewell publicly declared that she would show no tolerance for climate change deniers within the agency. She has stated that we all have a “moral obligation to act and make this planet better for future generations” and has invited all skeptics to visit public lands to personally witness the environmental changes that our planet Earth is facing due to global warming.
Secretary Jewell’s comments bring hope to all of us that have felt a great deal of frustration from government representatives that have repeatedly argued against climate change. It is publicly known that all eight Republican senates that sit on the Environment and Public Works Committee believe global warming to be a myth. One senator went as far as referring to climate change as “ridiculous pseudo-science garbage.”
Those that deny global warming have no place in a governmental office that aims to protect our country’s natural resources and ensure that we have the means to continue powering our future. Climate change is a proven scientific fact and it affects us all. We are already witnessing the devastating results of it from the melting of the polar ice caps to the devastation of complete ecosystems. Ignoring the effects of global warming is a mistake and so we must commend individuals like Secretary Sally Jewell that make it a point to publicly encourage those in power to make it their moral responsibility to act in favor of our world.
Dear Sally Jewell,
Thank you for making it clear that there is no room for climate change skeptics in your agency and for acknowledging that it is a moral imperative to make decisions that will help restore our planet’s health. I urge you to continue encouraging your employees to seek out the truth about global warming by visiting public lands and exploring regions that have already suffered from its effects. It is a terrifying reality that we must all come to terms with so that together we may make the right decisions and push for a better future.
It is frustrating when government elected officials deny climate change and find ways to argue against the necessary steps we must take to ensure our survival as a species. Thank you for making it known that you have long term goals for our environment and that you are not afraid advocate for our planet Earth.
I applaud your candor and look forward to seeing you make decisions that will have a positive impact on our environment.
