Target: Educational Testing Services (ETS)
Goal: Urge the Educational Testing Services to revoke the cancellation of Mills High School students’ AP test scores from “testing irregularities” that were beyond the powers of the students to change
Recently, students from Mills High School in Millbrae received devastating news about their AP (Advanced Placement) tests scores: the scores were cancelled by Educational Testing Services due to the fact that some students sat at round tables instead of facing the same direction as mandated by the AP exam manual.
However, investigation shows that all the AP exams were strictly monitored and there was no record of student misconduct or cheating. Furthermore, as the seating arrangements were determined by the school’s test administrators, students should not be punished for something they had no power to change.
AP scores mean a lot to high school students as these college-level exams represent academic enthusiasm and excellence. They often take a year of intense studying to prepare for, and are important for many students to be competitive in applying to their dream colleges and universities. In addition, they can be counted as credits in college and cost only $89-150 to take, helping students save much money in college tuition. Cancelling these students’ scores mean a lost chance for students to enhance their college applications and earn credits toward college at minimal cost, though they are at no fault.
By signing this petition you will help urge the ETS to revoke cancellation of AP test scores at Mills High School so that students receive the credits and recognition that they deserve for their academic achievements.
To the Educational Testing Services:
Recently, I have learned that students at Mills High School in Millbrae had their AP test scores revoked because the seating arrangement at the school’s test site did not comply with AP manual regulations. Although that is true, investigations have shown that the tests were monitored strictly and that no misconduct was found. Furthermore, it is a great loss to students to have their scores cancelled, as these tests represent recognition of students’ academic excellence, achievements that help them become competitive in college applications, and college credits at minimal cost that will save them thousands of dollars in post-secondary education.
Please revoke the test score cancellation and allow the students at Mills High School to be rewarded for their hard work.
