Target: Mustafa Ramid, Minister of Justice and Liberties
Goal: Place a convicted pedophile back in prison who was pardoned after serving only two years
Spain’s king, Juan Carlos, recently visited Morocco. His trip there included an interesting activity: he asked for the pardon of 48 Spanish prisoners, and King Mohammed VI granted his wishes. Among the included prisoners was Daniel Fino Galvan, a pedophile who was convicted for 30 years for raping and filming 11 children, all between the ages of 4 and 15.
“The king’s pardon is a second rape for the victims,” a woman who calls herself Meryem El tweeted. The population of Morocco have expressed outrage at this decision, condemning the release of a brutal pedophile at the request of the Spanish king. Despite the attempts to foster positive relations between countries, the release of this man is absurd.
This action informs rapists that they can get away with their crimes. The pardon of such a brutal crime is an affront to the legal system of Morocco, which delivered a deserved conviction. This incident sparked a demonstration in Morocco’s capital, but it can’t stop there. The message to pedophiles and rapists has to be clear: you cannot get away with your crimes. Sign this petition to condemn the pardon, and demand that the minister of Justice place Galvan back in prison where he belongs.
Dear Mr. Mustafa Ramid,
Recently, your king pardoned Daniel Fino Galvan, a Spaniard living in your country. He was accused of raping 11 children ranging from the ages of 4 to 15, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. After King Juan Carlos visited your country and asked your king to pardon Spanish prisoners, his request was granted.
This cannot be allowed to happen. You are sending a message to all rapists and pedophiles, informing them that Morocco is a place in which they can commit such atrocities and get away with it, provided a foreign body of government asks for their release.
I urge you to reconsider, and place Galvan back in prison to serve out his sentence. His brutal actions cannot go unpunished. His release is a slap in the face to the children who suffered at his hands. While your king may be attempting to maintain a positive relationship with Spain, a relationship with the children and youth of your country who are at risk is at stake. Place this man back where he belongs, and prevent the further torture of innocent children.
