Target: President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III
Goal: Enforce anti dog meat laws in the Philippines
Dogs are still being slaughtered in the Philippines despite legislation that makes this practice illegal. Annually 500,000 dogs are killed in the Philippines in the illegal dog meat trade. Please tell President Benigno Aquino III to enforce the laws that criminalize this barbaric behavior.
Despite the dog meat trade being illegal in the Philippines, half a million or more dogs are killed every year and served to patrons in restaurants or sold in food carts by vendors. Dogs are taken from the streets or often stolen from loving families. Criminals receive a small sum for the dogs they provide to the corrupt individuals who fuel this horrific custom. Dogs suffer terribly during transport, where they are crammed into cages, sometimes 20 to a small cage, forcing many to suffocate and die before their final destination. Dogs that survive the arduous journey, which can be hundreds of miles, arrive to find themselves at a makeshift slaughterhouse that callously throws the cages off the truck and proceeds to grab terrified dogs one by one, slitting their throats and often dismembering and skinning them alive. These innocent, loving creatures continue to suffer horrific fates despite the laws against this disgusting brutality.
Please tell President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III to once and for all end this atrocious abuse of dogs and enforce the laws already set forth to protect these beautiful, intelligent animals.
Dear President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III,
I was horrified to learn that despite current legislation that outlaws the dog meat trade in the Philippines, this corrupt business continues to thrive. Every year half a million dogs suffer heinously due to lack of enforcement of these laws. Please enforce the anti dog meat trade legislation and put an end to this disgusting cruelty.
Every year in the Philippines, thousands of dogs are taken from the streets or stolen from loving families. They are sold to restaurants and street vendors in the illegal dog trade. Dogs are often smuggled hundreds of miles stuffed 20 or more to a ridiculously small cage. Dogs often die during transport from suffocation or heat stroke. Those who survive the transport only succumb to a more disturbing fate of having their throats slit and suffer the dismemberment and skinning process often while still alive and fully conscious.
This inherent cruelty must end. There is current legislation that criminalizes this barbaric and cruel practice. Please enforce the anti dog meat laws in the Philippines and put an end to this disgusting practice once and for all.
