Commend Target on Partnership with Hunger Relief Charity

Target: Gregg Steinhafel, President and CEO of Target Corporation

Goal: Commend Target on its partnership with FEED Projects, which supports hunger relief

Recently, Target Corporation (Target) has debuted its newest collection, FEED USA + Target. This collaborative collection with FEED Projects features a variety of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and accessories, as well as home items and sporting goods. This partnership has produced one of Target’s largest collections to date, and each item sold benefits Feeding America, the United States’ leading domestic hunger relief charity.

FEED Projects was founded in 2007 by Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafsch. They started off by selling the “FEED 1 bag.” This bag was reversible and made of burlap, and was stamped with “FEED the children of the world” and “1” to emphasize that the purchase of one bag feeds one child in school for an entire year. FEED Projects is able to provide these meals through the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP) School Feeding Program. As of 2013, the organization and WFP have been able to provide over sixty million meals to children around the world. In addition, FEED Projects has partnered with the US Fund for UNICEF to help raise funds to provide children with micronutrient supplements and Vitamin A. As of 2013, the organization through the US Fund for UNICEF has provided over 46,000 children with essential nutrients.

Target’s partnership with FEED Projects focuses on feeding children across the United States. Most often, American organizations focus on helping those in other countries. However, there are people in need of assistance within our nation. By allocating funds generated from the FEED USA + Target collection to people within the United States, Target is helping a group that is too frequently overlooked. Foreign organizations do not aid Americans who are in need the same way American organizations aid citizens of other countries who are in need. Therefore, it is up to American companies and organizations to help those within their nation. By creating this collection, Target has shown a commitment to helping people across the United States. By signing the petition below, you will commend Target on its dedication to helping those in need and for setting an example for other companies to follow.

Dear Gregg Steinhafel,

The recently debuted FEED USA + Target collection is deserving of praise. Target is known for collaborating with a number of companies and for being unique in its choices. This collaboration provides customers with fashionable apparel, housewares, and sporting goods, while at the same time providing meals to children and families across the United States. Target has found a way to help Americans in need, a group of people who are often overlooked by many organizations.

As a leading American retailer, Target has the ability to reach millions of people and companies. By choosing to partner with FEED Projects, Target has influenced its customers to help those in need, and has set an example for other companies to follow. We would like to commend you and the company for these efforts.
