Target: Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson
Goal: Halt plans for a Natural History Museum that would display slaughtered exotic animals
A wealthy couple in Sacramento has offered to donate millions to the city in order to tear down the current auto museum and rebuild it to include a natural history museum that would display the carcasses of numerous endangered animals that have been slaughtered by the pair. The act of murdering endangered and exotic animals should not be rewarded with a museum or public display, nor does this represent the City of Sacramento’s core values. Please tell Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson to halt plans for this embarrassing misrepresentation of Sacramento.
Paul and Renee Snider have spent years traveling the globe killing exotic, endangered species and dragging home the carcasses as trophies. Their private collection includes many animals on the endangered species list and some near extinction. Six years ago, the couple asked to open a natural History Museum with their taxidermy collection on the Sacramento State Campus and they even traveled to Tanzania to murder more endangered animals. Campus faculty was outraged at the proposal of displaying the shameful acts of greed and refused the couple’s plans altogether. Now the Sniders have turned to the City and asked to buy the current auto museum located in the downtown Sacramento area since it is in dire need of restoration. The proposed ‘slaughter shrine’ would be not be an accurate representation of Sacramento’s core values that include preservation and respect for nature. Adding insult to injury, this taxidermy museum would be located directly across the street from Sacramento City’s Animals Shelter where workers and volunteers dedicate their lives to saving and improving the lives of animals; a death house across the street would be a disgraceful, disgusting dichotomy.
Please tell Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson that the slaughter shrine proposed by the Snider’s is an embarrassing misrepresentation of Sacramento City and it’s core values. If the auto museum needs attention please revamp the structure without allowing the disgusting taxidermy collection to be on display. Halt the Snider’s plans for their ‘Natural History Museum’ at once.
Dear Kevin Johnson,
I was shocked to learn of the disgusting proposal by the Snider couple to spend millions building a museum in Sacramento that would house their private collection of murdered, endangered animals. This would be a gross misrepresentation of Sacramento and it’s core values. Please deny the Snider’s offer and instead maintain the current auto museum or revamp it without including the gluttonous trophies acquired by the Sniders.
Sacramento currently has an outdated auto museum that is in much need of restoration. Paul and Renee Snider have offered to buy the current auto museum only to tear it down and reconstruct a new museum that would also house their numerous dead animals which the couple has traveled the globe in order to kill and drag home as trophies. Many animals in their collection are endangered and some near extinction. This ‘slaughter shrine’ would also be located adjacent to the Front Street Animal Shelter where staff and volunteers dedicate their lives to helping animals. A death house across the street would be a disgusting and disgraceful dichotomy.
Sacramento values its natural habitat and works to preserve and respect nature, not plunder and kill everything for ridiculous displays. Please tell the Sniders their proposal will not be accepted if it includes any of their dead, shameful trophies.
