Commend NASA for Giving Full Scholarship to Wrongly Expelled Teen

Target: NASA Space Academy

Goal: Thank NASA Space Academy for giving full scholarship to teen who was wrongly expelled from school and almost charged with a felony for a science experiment gone wrong.

Recently, 16-year-old Kiera Wilmot was performing a science experiment during a biology class at her high school. Motivated by a love for science and a curiosity for what’s out there, the teenager decided to mix certain chemicals together to see what would happen. What started out as a harmless, innocent experiment turned into a bad situation for Wilmot, and after the chemicals made a small explosion that didn’t hurt anyone, she was arrested and expelled from school. After much public outcry at the injustice of her situation, potential charges were dropped and Wilmot was allowed back in school. Since the incident, NASA Space Academy has offered a full scholarship to the student. This was a stand-up thing for NASA to do, and they should be recognized for their generosity.

After the harmless experiment went awry, 16-year-old Kiera Wilmot was immediately arrested and expelled from school. The story broke and was trending all over the world, and when people started to find out about what had happened to this girl, they took action. Petitions were made, protests were staged, and much support was given to the teenager and her family. Eventually, everything was dropped and the girl was able to go back to school, but the impact her story made is evident by the level of support she was given. Many organizations reached out to her to offer her various opportunities, and in this included a full scholarship to the NASA Space Academy. The NASA veteran that offered this to her also, as a teenager, got in trouble for a science experiment that went wrong, and he felt inspired to give this brilliant girl a chance.

The actions that NASA took to support Kiera Wilmot in her future scientific endeavors and the huge opportunity that they gave her should be recognized. Add your name to this to let NASA Space Academy know that what they are doing to give this bright girl a promising future is commendable.

Dear NASA Space Academy,

Kiera Wilmot is a bright 16-year-old girl with a promising future, but recently, her future did not look so bright. After an innocent science experiment went wrong at her high school, she was arrested and expelled, leaving her chances at success up in the air. Her story of injustice made waves across the world, and people joined together to show Wilmot and her family support. Soon after, all charges were dropped and she was allowed back in school.

You at NASA have done a wonderful thing by granting this brilliant teenager with a full scholarship to the Space Academy. Not only can this opportunity help her create a path towards doing wonderful things in the field of science, but it will really help encourage other young people to explore the world of science and not be discouraged by others who try to get in their way. I’ve signed this petition today to thank you for doing this great thing for Kiera, and I hope that others will recognize your nobility in this situation.
