Target: Peaceful activists from Restore the Fourth
Goal: Commend activists for their non-violent protests again national privacy invasion
It was recently leaked that the United States government has been invading the privacy of Americans. Companies such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Facebook, Youtube, AOL, and others have admitted to opening their servers to government surveillance. This is a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment, which states that “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures”. On July 4, a group of non-partisan, unaffiliated citizens held peaceful protests all across the country to spread awareness about the actions of the government and the Fourth amendment. The protests ranged from Pennsylvania to California to Alaska and Hawaii. The goal of these protests was not to become violent but rather to spread awareness on the issue.
The government should not be spying on their citizens in this way but many believe that, as citizens, there is nothing that can be done. These citizens should be commended for their peaceful efforts and dedication to spreading awareness about this important issue.
Dear Restore the Fourth activists,
Thank you for spreading awareness about the violation of the Fourth Amendment by the United States government. This is a very important issue and more people need to be aware of all the facts. In situations like this where there are many shades of gray in people’s opinions and the media is spinning the news one way when the reality may be different, it is important for non-partisan information. Thank you for providing this.
I hope that as more information becomes available that you will continue your efforts. I hope you continue working to peacefully spread the word until everyone in the country is aware of the facts.
Thank you again and keep up the good work.
