Demand Justice for 13-Year-Old Victim of Sodomy Hazing

Norwood Colorado

Target: Norwood School Board of Education

Goal: Ask Norwood School Board of Education in Norwood, Colorado to fire both the Superintendent and school board President who condoned the sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy.

At a high school wrestling tournament last year at the Norwood School in Norwood, Colorado, a 13-year-old boy was cornered by three upperclassmen on an empty school bus. Once the victim was cornered, the three boys proceeded to bound him with duct tape and sodomize him with a pencil. Superintendent David Crews and the school board failed to report the incident for over a month, but the victim’s father (who happened to be the school’s principal) reported it to police on his own. Two of the boys who sodomized the 13-year-old victim happened to be the wrestling coach’s sons, the coach himself actually school board President, and he clearly sided with his sons by condoning the act. Eventually, the victim was harassed even more in school, and the father was forced to resign from his job as principal. The family had to move 200 miles away. Both the Superintendent of the district and the wrestling coach/board President/father of the assaulters should be the ones fired from their jobs for condoning and allowing this behavior to go on with little to no consequences.

When the 13-year-old victim of sexual harassment at the hands of three older boys went back to school following the horrific incident, instead of being treated with compassion and sympathy, he was completely ostracized. Students in the school wore shirts that supported the perpetrators, put “Go to hell” stickers on the boy’s locker, and harassed him on a daily basis. After the victim’s father, who was also the school principal, reported the incident to police, the people of the town of Norwood forced him to resign. To make matters worse, the school board President is not only the coach of the wrestling team that was competing during the incident, but he is also the president of the school board. His name is Robert Harris. The victim in this situation had no chance of justice, and, adding insult to injury, was forced to move 200 miles away with his family.

The victim’s father should not have been forced to resign as principal of the school. Instead, both Superintendent Crews and school board President/father of the perpetrators Robert Harris should be the ones let go. Sign this petition to demand that these men are fired from their positions at the Norwood School.

Dear Norwood School Board of Education,

As you know, an innocent 13-year-old boy was cornered in an empty bus, bound with duct tape, and sodomized with a pencil outside of a wrestling match at your school. Superintendent David Crews, along with board President, wrestling coach, and father of two of the assaulters Robert Harris, were completely biased in this matter, choosing to do little to condemn the sexual assault. When they victim went back to school, he was tirelessly harassed and still no action was taken against it. To make matters worse, the victim’s father, who as you know was Principal of your school, was forced to resign after pressure from residents of Norwood. Now, the victim and his family were left with no choice but to moved 200 miles away, and both the school board President/coach/perpetrator’s father and the district’s Superintendent still have their jobs.

The fact that these men still hold their positions when they were so clearly biased in this matter and did nothing to help the young victim is despicable, and it sends a message to victims of sexual assault everywhere that there will never be justice for them. I am signing this petition to demand that you let go of both Superintendent Crews and school board President Harris.

  1. Robert Ortiz says:

That should’ve never happened to him. ALL those responsible or remotely involved need to be punished especially the perpetrators since they can easily become another generation of dangerous, deranged sex offenders.

  2. Laura Caro says:

this kind of monstruosity should never be allowed. Minors who harrassed and assaulted must go to a correctional, adults who admitted these behaviours ought to be fired and, at least, sent to trial. I would send them to prison too, and made them pay a compensation to the ex principal´s family. That would some justice.

  3. Alandra Coleman says:

This disgust me and the fact that these upperclassman as you call them were not arrested is even worst and says a great deal about the public school system. If a child isn’t safe at school where can they go to learn and be protected and safe? Its the school administrators and bus drivers who are supposed to be looking after our kids when we’re not there and for something like this to happen, they obviously wasn’t doing their jobs! I believe everyone who was involved and their parents, administrators, and anyone who knew anything about it should be jailed or fired, and maybe pay a hefty fine! Nip this in the bud now or those juvenile delinquents will be a huge problem in society! They are obviously sick and need help!!
