Target: 5-year-old Jayden Sink
Goal: Applaud Jayden Sink for standing up against the Westboro Baptist Church
Jayden Sink earned over $10,000 after setting up a lemonade stand across the street from the Westboro Baptist Church headquarters. The Westboro Baptist Church, famous for protesting at soldier’s funerals and spreading homophobic messages, not only ridiculed the girl in person but also posted offensive tweets about her.
Although members of the church reportedly threw insults at the girl and her father, she continued to sell her lemonade as well as accept online donations. All of her proceeds were given to Planting Peace, the organization which owns the Equality House across the street from Westboro Baptist Church’s headquarters. She should be applauded for her persistence and her charity.
Standing outside of the Equality House, Jayden earned $170 in cash by selling her “Pink Lemonade for Peace” and garnered over $10,000 in online donations. Customers included more than a dozen soldiers at a nearby military base. The Equality House has been supportive and shown their appreciation for Jayden’s efforts, but this little girl’s bravery cannot be undervalued.
By signing the petition below, you will show your support for Jayden and applaud her for her courageous work.
Your bravery in standing up to the Westboro Baptist Church is commendable. The fact you raised over $10,000 for Planting Peace through your lemonade stand, despite the fact that you were harassed in the process, is exceptional. Your kindness and perseverance are applauded.
By selling your “Pink Lemonade for Peace” outside of the Equality House, you stood on the side of decency and acceptance. Your willingness to donate all of your proceeds to Planting Peace shows a dedication to helping others that is beyond your years, and gives hope for a newer, more open minded generation. Even when grown adults showed a lack of maturity on their part, you refused to step down. For this, you are thanked and commended.
