Commend Obama on Driving New Education Initiative

Classroom Technology

Target: President Barack Obama

Goal: Support President Obama’s new education initiative

Today’s workplace is becoming increasingly technologically-driven and globally connected. In order to prepare United States students for this changing environment, President Obama has revealed a new education initiative called ConnectED. Rather than depend on congressional influence, this initiative relies on existing funds and urges businesses, schools, states, districts, and communities to take action.

The initiative strives to integrate technology within all levels of primary and secondary education. Within the next five years, the goal is to increase the use of technology within schools through devices and software programs, as well as supplying next-generation broadband and high-speed wireless internet to ninety-nine percent of schools. This ninety-nine percent includes students located in rural areas, which generally are not able to invest in a broadband base.

In addition to providing greater resources to students, the initiative’s goals involve training teachers. They will be taught how to utilize new programs, which will allow them to track each individual student’s engagement and learning progress. This information will allow teachers to more easily recognize the strengths and weaknesses of each student. They will then be able to modify the lesson to maximize each student’s learning potential. The new technology will make it easier for teachers to address each student’s needs without creating extra stress.

The programs will not only allow teachers and students to connect and interact more effectively, but will allow teachers to interact with other educators throughout the world. This increases the resources and support available to each teacher.

By striving to incorporate technology within nearly all of the nation’s schools, President Obama has shown that he truly cares about the success and welfare of students and teachers. By signing the petition below, you will commend President Obama for emphasizing the importance of education.

Dear President Obama,

The new education initiative, ConnectED, addresses a major issue within the nation’s education system. While other countries have increased the use of technology within their classrooms, the United States has not been able to due to a lack of funding and insufficient resources.

This initiative benefits both students and teachers, and is designed to implement new devices and software programs in the least stressful manner. Students will receive individual attention, and will be better prepared for the technologically-driven work environment. Teachers will be able to more easily address student needs, and will have access to an array of support resources.

By creating this initiative and calling on the support of businesses and communities, you have shown your dedication towards improving the future of this nation. We want to commend you for your efforts.
