Target: CEO of Air France, Alexandre de Juniac
Goal: Demand Air France stop transporting monkeys to be used for animal testing in laboratories
Air France is one of the “largest traffickers of primates in the world,” transporting monkeys to laboratories all over the globe. Air France is one of the only major airlines that has not yet refused to transport monkeys to be used for animal testing. The animals endure a painful journey before arriving at a laboratory where they will be used for testing until they are killed.
These monkeys are captured from the wild and taken from their families before being stuffed into a small, dark crate and shipped across the world. They then reach their destination at a testing laboratory, where the worst part of their suffering will occur. They will be used to test all kinds of products, from vaccines or medicines to makeup or shampoo. This entails poisoning them, infecting them with diseases, and mutilating their bodies. Whatever sort of testing they undergo will lead to extreme psychological distress, and they will only be freed from the torture when they are killed in the end.
Air France must follow the example of other major airlines, and stop transporting monkeys for testing. By doing this, Air France will help end cruel animal testing practices, and will stand up for animal rights. Demand that Air France changes their practices to become a more humane corporation.
Dear Mr. de Juniac,
Air France is now one of the only major airlines that still transports primates for animal testing. These animals are taken from the wild and from their families, and face torture when they reach their destinations. They are poisoned or infected with painful illnesses, and they are always inflicted with extreme psychological distress. The practice of animal testing has been becoming more and more unpopular, and companies across the world are vowing to stop using animals for product testing. Animal testing is not nearly as accepted a practice as it once was, and the companies that still use it are frequently being criticized.
If Air France were to stop transporting monkeys for testing, the company would be setting a global example and taking a step to end cruel animal testing. This would be an internationally respected move, especially because most major airlines have already stopped transporting primates. Air France would show that it too is ready to stand up for animal rights, taking the world one step closer to freedom from cruel animal testing. This would be an extremely commendable action, and the international community would continue its path towards a world without animal testing.
