Target: Ingrid E. Newkirk, President of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Goal: Ban cruel pornographic videos in which small animals are tortured and brutally killed
A new type of pornographic video, labeled “crushing,” has gained recent popularity despite its disturbing brutality. In the videos, the woman can be wearing any sort of outfit — the only requirement being that she must have on high heels. In most of the videos, she then stabs and crushes a small animal to death by stepping on it in her heels.
The animals used are always tiny and innocent looking, and often babies. Kittens, mice, puppies, hamsters, and guinea pigs are the most frequent victims. When they aren’t being crushed to death, the animals may be burned alive, cut apart with scissors, or nailed into the floor. These videos present a highly disturbing form of sexual arousal, and they have been growing more and more popular in the United States and Europe.
The videos are easy for anyone to find because they are usually embedded on porn sites. This means that not only are they available to the general public, they could be stumbled upon by children or teenagers browsing the internet. There have been convictions before, but the perpetrators received only minimal punishments. That such disturbing and inhuman videos can be created and distributed is unacceptable, and these brutal killings need to be halted.
Dear Ms. Newkirk,
The growing popularity of “crushing” videos–in which small animals are tortured to death by women in high heels–is alarming. The proliferation of such inhumane images can only have negative effects on American society, and could lead to an increase in animal cruelty and abuse. The killing and torture illustrated by these videos is disturbing, and there is no excuse for such cruelty to still exist today.
We have to stand up for the animals who cannot stand up for themselves, and that means inspiring our legislators to take charge and work to create consequences for the creation and distribution of such brutal videos. This is a recent trend, and it is only just beginning to receive national attention. It is time to expose this cruel practice, and inform the public of the crimes being committed against animals. All of the information needs to be presented to the public: the burning, the use of scissors, the crushing with high heels. If enough public support is garnered then the government can be pressured into enforcing consequences for these acts of animal cruelty. It is imperative for all animals that these brutal slaughters are finally ended.
