Goal: Maintain reasonable funding for NASA to allow for continual progression of science and engineering
In the face of budget cuts, and especially after the termination of the shuttle program, NASA’s government funding is quickly diminishing. Despite this fact, the brilliant scientists working for NASA continue to make important breakthroughs in their field that contribute to the everyday lives of people around the world. Though its budget certainly does not need to be as large as it was in the past, we must ensure NASA is provided a reasonable enough budget to continue their important scientific work.
Over the years NASA’s inventions include light emitting diodes (LEDs), artificial limbs, scratch-resistant lenses, aircraft anti-icing, improved radial tires, enriched baby food, water purification and solar energy, just to name a few.
The NASA budget must remain intact in order to allow scientists the freedom and creativity to continue to push the envelope of science and engineering. Though the shuttle program is gone, NASA can remain a valuable asset to America, and in turn, a worthy place for taxpayers’ dollars to be spent.
Please sign this petition and let the government know how much the American people value the work NASA has done and will continue to do in the future.
To Whom It May Concern,
Due to our nation’s recent economic downturn, budget cuts within the federal government are to be expected. However, after the famous shuttle program was terminated, budgetary cuts for NASA are expected to be major. We, as tax paying Americans, implore you to maintain an adequate budget for NASA and allow its brilliant minds to continue their experimentation as well as their progression of science and engineering.
The intellectual community NASA has created allows for some of the most creative and freethinking work in engineering and science today. NASA has developed so many devices and scientific processes over the years there is no question that its research is of great value to America, her citizens, and her future.
With the shuttle program now gone, NASA’s functions can be streamlined and given a much smaller budget. This petition is simply asking that you do not restrict their budget beyond working purposes.
