End Fur Farming in Italy

Target: Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Policies

Goal: Shut down numerous chinchilla and mink fur farms

Italy has 16 mink farms and one chinchilla farm that are currently active and hidden in the countryside. More than 200,000 animals are held captive in these facilities that house them like prisoners and deprive them of their freedom. The end of the road for the animals is when they are finally gassed, skinned, and made into clothing. This is a disgusting tradition and we need to save these animals.

These animals are born to die and they are never given a proper chance to live in the wild like nature has intended them to. The price of fashion is a high one for these animals, and they bear the torture so trendy coats and jackets can be made and sold in expensive stores. Their lives are invaluable and they are bred just to be tortured to death.

The poor, helpless animals imprisoned in the Italian fur farms are victims of a vicious cycle. There will continue to be a demand for their fur if it is regarded as a luxury item. We need to bring more attention to the suffering that produces these trendy fashion items so that we can put an end to the torture. Sign the petition below to demand Italy close fur farms.

Dear Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Policies,

Hundreds of thousands of animals suffer so that your country can produce expensive, luxury clothing items. The minks and chinchillas imprisoned in your farms are tortured in their small cages and bred only to die so their fur can be used by humans. Killing large numbers of animals to simply end up wearing them is a barbaric act and something needs to be done to stop it.

It is one thing to use animals as clothing when there are limited options and you are in dire circumstances, but that is not what these animals are currently being used for. They are bred to be killed and worn by the rich as a symbol of their extravagance. These innocent animals don’t deserve such cruel treatment. They have a right to live in the wild, and that is being taken away from them when they are held captive at your fur farms.

If it wasn’t for a desire to show off extreme wealth, these animals would be living freely in the wild. Instead, selfish humans are constantly killing them only to wear them on their backs and throw them in closets to most likely be forgotten about. Please close your fur farms and end the cruel torture of these innocent animals.

  1. “We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living beings, humanity will not find peace.” – Albert Schweitzer

I would just like to point out that yes, we need to end fur farming, but the leather and wool industries are just as bad. They sound like harmful by products, but they are not. Just look up sheep and mulesing, and you will get why wool is torture. Leather is not a by product of the meat industry, though they do make a lot o money off leather. Many times, it is cows in a completely different part of the world. India, surprisingly is a large contributor. The animals have their tails broken and hot peppers rubbed into their eyes to keep them moving. They are crowded onto transport trucks for hours, or even days with no food or water. They arrive at the slaughterhouse, and their throats are slit, in full view of the cows waiting their turn. The meat industry is just as abusive, as is dairy and eggs. Please, care for all animals.

  9. Karen Black says:

We dont need fur,we have plenty of other ways to keep warm without killing animals.
