Reduce Plastic Waste in Fast Food Restaurants

Target: Mr. Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of South Korea

Goal: Advocate for the ban of plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

Fast food restaurants in South Korea are notorious for their use of single-use plastic cutlery, which contributes to the country’s growing plastic waste problem. Plastic cutlery takes hundreds of years to decompose and often ends up in landfills, incinerators, or oceans, where it poses a serious threat to marine life and the environment. The impact of plastic waste cannot be overstated, and immediate action must be taken to mitigate its catastrophic effects.

The ban on plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants is a crucial step in reducing the amount of plastic waste generated by these establishments and promoting a more sustainable and eco-conscious consumer culture. In conjunction with the ban, it is imperative to encourage the use of reusable or biodegradable alternatives to plastic cutlery. Through proactive measures such as these, we can ensure a brighter and more sustainable future for generations to come.

In light of the urgent need to protect our environment and preserve the biodiversity of our ecosystems, sign below and call for swift and decisive action to ban plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prime Minister Han Duck-soo,

I am writing to urge you to advocate for the ban of plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants in South Korea to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainability. Single-use plastic cutlery is a major contributor to plastic pollution in our country, and we must take immediate action to address this issue.

The use of plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants poses a serious threat to the environment. These single-use items take hundreds of years to decompose and often end up in landfills, incinerators, or oceans, where they harm marine life and pollute the environment.

To address this issue, we must take action to ban the use of plastic cutlery in fast food restaurants. This will help to significantly reduce plastic waste in South Korea and promote a more sustainable and eco-conscious consumer culture. In addition, we must encourage the use of reusable or biodegradable alternatives to plastic cutlery in these establishments.

We urge you to support this ban of and promote sustainability in South Korea.

Sincerely,

  1. South Korea isn’t the only problem. We need ALL restaurants to ban plastics. There are alternatives such as bamboo or, better yet, cutlery, dishes and plates made from corn starches that are compostable and environmentally friendly. I will pay the extra 10 – 20 cents for my meal if these are used. Take out places could also ask if you even want cutlery, napkins, etc. Most people take their meal home anyway and end up throwing out the extras. I swear that fast food workers are programmed to include these extras. I can’t even count the times I requested NO cutlery, because I was going right home to eat, but the spoon, etc are still there in the bag with my meal! I just don’t get it. We need to change , and it has to be soon. We are filling up landfills and polluting the land and oceans with our trash. When does it stop?!
