Praise Resale Shop for Supporting Cruelty-Free Cosmetics

Target: Kerstin Block, President and Co-owner of Buffalo Exchange

Goal: To commend the Buffalo Exchange resale store for supporting the Be Cruelty-Free campaign to end cosmetic testing on animals.

On Saturday, April 20 the popular resale store Buffalo Exchange will donate all proceeds from the sale of one-dollar items to benefit the Humane Society’s Be Cruelty-Free campaign. The campaign urges consumers to only buy personal cosmetic products from companies that do not test any ingredients on animals. We should commend this business for its commitment to animal safety and preservation.

Opened in Tuscon, Arizona in 1974, Buffalo Exchange is an independent, privately held company managed by the founder and her daughter. In the true spirit of community, the store features clothing and accessories that are bought and sold locally among store customers. Buffalo Exchange is encouraging shoppers to sign a cruelty-free pledge, exclusively shop at cruelty-free stores, refuse to buy animal-tested products, and encourage others to do the same.

Despite continued media attention about animal testing practices, unethical and unnecessary testing continues to be a worldwide problem. The Humane Society’s Senior Director of Animal Research Issues, Pascaline Clerc, stated, “Some companies still test cosmetics and personal care products and their ingredients on bunnies and other animals, causing suffering and even death. In the United States, such testing is not required by law and is unnecessary.”

Companies like Buffalo Exchange are helping the Humane Society’s global campaign to  end cosmetics testing on animals once and for all around the world. The Humane Society and other animal protection groups keep track of cruelty-free companies on what is known as the Leaping Bunny List.

Sign the below petition to show your support of Buffalo Exchange’s campaign to fight against animal cruelty. These types of promotions are very helpful in informing consumers about what businesses’ environmental ethics align with their own.

Having lived in Tucson AZ from 1994 until 2008, I know this store very well. I’m not surprised Buffalo Exchange’s owners are doing this – that store is the BEST!

Thank you, Kerstin and Rebecca, for all you do!
