Justice for 300+ Dogs Reportedly Rescued From Largest Dogfighting Ring in State History

Target: Alan Wilson, Attorney General of South Carolina

Goal: Demand the alleged operators of the largest known dogfighting operation in South Carolina history be prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the law.

Recently, over 300 dogs were rescued from what officials consider the largest dogfighting ring in South Carolina history. Over 60 state and federal officers reportedly interrupted a scheduled dogfighting match in Richmond County, in addition to executing search warrants at nearby properties rumored to contain dogfighting associations. Officers were stunned by the cruelty they seemingly witnessed at these locations. Dogfighting paraphernalia was reportedly scattered about, and emaciated puppies with their rib cages showing were apparently found chained to trees and shoved in filthy cages.

So far, more than 20 individuals have been arrested for charges relating to animal cruelty. According to the Animal Welfare Act, individuals can face up to five years in prison for dogfighting charges. While the dogs are currently being taken care of by the Humane Society of the United States and Bark Nation, the sad reality is that many of these dogs will likely have to be euthanized, since their sole life purpose up until this point had seemingly been to fight and they are too aggressive to be placed into loving homes.

Sign this petition to demand all found guilty of involvement are punished at the fullest extent of the law. Dogfighting has no home here in the United States, or anywhere else.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Wilson,

It has been brought to public attention that over 300 dogs were reportedly rescued from an undercover dogfighting ring in South Carolina thought to have been the largest such operation in the states’ history. Officials on site at the 20+ search warrant properties were stunned by the apparent cruelty they witnessed, and images taken depict starved puppies with their rib cages showing chained to trees by heavy metal links, with others shoved in filthy, barren cages. Unfortunately, although the dogs are in the custody of the Humane Society of the United States and Bark Nation, most of these dogs–who reportedly spent their entire lives being trained to fight and kill–will most likely have to be euthanized.

Dogfighting is a terrible crime, and we are asking you, Mr. Wilson, that all individuals found guilty of involvement be punished at the fullest extent of the law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

These people should now pay the cost of keeping these dogs in a rescue place until they are rehomed.

    • Debra Simons says:

They won’t pay anything. They probably will hardly serve any time. They need to be executed ASAP actually for their crimes as all animal abusers should be and child abusers

      • Gilda Provenzano says:

This is South Carolina. They will NOT be punished. Look at Florida and Texas. RED STATES. The Big Cat Safety Act was passed and want to bet these red states will fight this in those states? CUNTservatives said they have a RIGHT to keep wild animals as pets.

      • Absolutely they took dogs lives

      • That would be a good idea but unfortunatly they can not be rehomed as all they know is fighting and more than likely they will now be euthanised.it is very sad and i would prefer the scum who did this be euthanised

  2. ALEJANDRA+PARAPAR says:

All involved in dogfighting have to be charged and sentenced to the max and never be allowed to have nor to be involved, participate in any business relating to dogs/pets/animals. They must also be charged with a fine, the cost of all medicals bills, whatever costs are associated with temporary fostering and total maintenance of these defenseless dogs.

  3. All of those folks who are in the dog fighting business should be locked in cages and forced to fight to the death. The eventual winner can then be executed via being thrown into a pit with the fighting dogs.

  4. Cynthia A Pisarcik says:

Could not agree with you more Mo !!!!!!!!!!

Throw these people in cages and let them die a slow and horrible death !!!!!

    It’s what they deserve !!!!!!!!

  5. Debra Simons says:

These human monsters need to be eliminated as soon as possible. Anyone who could sit and watch the torture and abuse of these animals or any animals needs to be removed from the planet ASAP.

  6. Absolutely disgusting and cruel!!! Throw all of those abusers involved in jail, fine them to the full extent, never ever allow them to have pets, if any of these sickos have kids, take the kids away from those losers!!!
So so thankful law enforcement took them down!!! Please keep up the amazing work you do for animals rights!!!
Those poor dogs have only known suffering and it’s so unfair!! My heart aches for all of those dogs!!!

  7. Susan Kulikowski says:

All of these people who think dog fighting is entertainment should be caged and fight each other. I hate that people think that dogs are expendable. These “low-lifes” should be expendable instead of the poor dogs.

  8. Patricia Wicker says:

THESE MONSTERS HAVE TO BE PUNISHED TO THE VERY MAXIMUM!!!!~!

  9. You won’t stop this till you start giving the same jail time/fine to the AUDIENCE and to the organizers. Make it riskier for the audience to attend such events. If you eliminate the audience, you eliminate most bets, you eliminate the reason to have fighting rings.

  10. Gilbert Hall says:

The last of the victory dogs died recently at best friends in utah. The dogs from michael vick were rehabilited and most of them found loving homes. It took time, but saved all the dogs lives as should be done with these dogs. As for the people involved- as Vick who was famous and rich he served real jail time, why should not these worthless pieces of crude.? The south continues to be a different world form the rest of the country treating animals and minorites terribly. Very sad

  11. Cindy+and+Christine+Guarnieri says:

The “inhuman” low-life heartless scumbag people that were involved with this cruelty and violence on these poor helpless animals should be put in a ring with mo escape and let the animals go in and bite and chew on them. We hope they spend a long time in JAIL for causing such pain, suffering and TRAUMA on these dogs. This is sickening and despicable and so are these selfish ignorant people.

  12. Our laws are too weak and judges allow these monsters to continue their crimes. To be realistic five years in prison is not enough. At least 20 years and hopefully more. Fines needs to be paid plus the expense of healing and rehoming the dogs. Houses must be taken to pay for this as well as any savings accumulated. Families may be out on the street but this seems the only way to condemn this act and force those, still involved, the price they will pay for these crimes. These perverts won’t stop until they know they will have to pay an extremely high price if they stay in such criminal activity. They will watch and see their families and loved ones pay for their crimes. States differ on punishment of such crimes. The Feds need to get involved as well. To allow any of these poor excuses for humans to walk free is a tragedy which will happen again unless the laws and courts make this, like murder, too hard a crime to commit.

  13. These morons need a hard long thrashing. How they can do this to sweet babies is beyond comprehension.

  14. stop animal abusers says:

NUTER AND SPAY EVERY HUMAN ANIMAL INVOLVED! NEANDERTHALS OUT OF THE FUCKING GENE POOL

  15. Nadine+brundage says:

Let’s face it this country let’s low life trash who commit cruelty get away without any consequences. These evil, heartless bastards need to pay and they can start with having all their assets which includes property, cars and anything else they own to pay for vet care and boarding for any salvageable animals which won’t be many because most are too dangerous to be rehomed. Three hundred dogs were abused by 20 subhumans and hard to believe no one knew what was going on at that property. The people of that state should be encouraging their officials for better laws and consequences for scum like them.

  16. Frances Leard says:

These low life sick inhumane hillbilly cowards should all be thrown in jail and the animals have to suffer for this greed. Put a stop to this insane torture and let these scums get what they deserve in jail.

  17. All of the people involved in this henious act, organisers and spectators, should be executed without trial. These people shouldn’t be allowed to walk this earth but this is America and judges don’t take animal cruelty seriously. Come on, step up to the plate and give them the death penalty, that will stop a lot of animal abuse but if you do nothing – it doesn’t bear thinking about!

  18. Maria Lavorato says:

The law must now do its job! MAXIMUM JAIL TIME FOR ALL INVOLVED. SEIZE ALL THEIR MONIES BY FINES AND PAY FOR ALL THE DOGS’ REHABILITATION! IF EXTREME PUNISHMENT IS NOT DOLED OUT …THIS TORTURE WILL CONTINUE FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL DOGS!!

DO NOT EUTHANIZE ANY DOG ….THIS IT NOT THEIR DOING.

AGREE WITH YOU MO! THEY ALL DESERVE BACK EXACTLY WHAT THEY LET ALL THE DOGS ENDURE!!!!?!?

  19. KELLY KRAMER says:

Throw the book at these barbarians. Be the strong voice for the voiceless. Send a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

  20. I agree with so many of you, Mo, Val, etc. All these people need to be ‘taken out’, i.e. executed! For starters, to get them executed means these same people will never be able to do this again, AND, it WILL make others think twice whether to commit such a heinous crime KNOWING what the REAL consequences are.
