Goal: Put an end to horse-drawn carriages.
Horses being used for horse-drawn carriages in India are suffering. They are forced to pull heavy carriages full of people, even when physically wounded, sick, and hungry. Some horses are whipped as well. These animals pull the carriages in extremely hot weather and have also been seen standing in their own waste. The carriage rides are usually long, which causes exhaustion for the horses and means they go a long time without food and water. PETA India is demanding the end to these cruel conditions.
An investigation found cruel conditions for the horses. Many of them had injuries which could be from being struck by cars, likely while navigating through heavy traffic. It was discovered that they are left to find their own food, and some are abandoned after they can no longer work. They receive no veterinary treatment, leading to painful deaths. They went far too long without food, leaving them extremely thin.
Sign below and demand that horse drawn carriages be banned in India and the horses given proper treatment and care.

Dear Mamata Banerjee,
You must put a stop to the tourist attraction of horse-drawn carriages. The horses being used for this are put through harmful conditions like lack of food and water. This leads to exhaustion and can even lead to their deaths. They are not receiving proper medical treatment and are being forced to work.
Horses do not deserve to work in these harmful conditions. We demand alongside PETA India that the cruel conditions these horses are suffering from the carriage rides are stopped.

The cruelty and lack of compassion for other living creatures loses all respect for your country, your government and your people. You must change this before you will be seen as a civilized country. I, and countless others who have fought the corrupt, greedy carriage owners,(THE WORD “PIMP” COMES TO MIND) who are blatantly and totally uninterested in proper care of horses, and their equally untrained, illegal alien drivers since the 1980s when we sucessully passed “Bill 88” to provide a modicum of care for the overworked, terrified, improperly shod horses(thanks to the famously animal-abusive Amish). AND WE’RE STILL HAVING TO SIGN PETITIONS AGAINST THIS SHAMEFUL TORTURE OF HORSES IN 2022?????? Any responsible figure who has authority to end practices that cause harm and or neglect to animals and in this case, horses, should do all that they can to end the suffering of these animals. It is apparent that these horses are not properly cared for and are forced into working beyond reason.

I’m so sorry these innocent animals are exploited and suffer so much abuse and neglect. I’m opposed to horse drawn carriages. Here in New Orleans, LA, they’re very popular in the French Quarters, at weddings and funerals. I think in some instances, mules and donkeys may be used. There have been cases when these animals collapse, I’m sure from exhaustion. I feel this practice should be outlawed.
Carriage rides are completely unnecessary, BAN THEM ENTIRELY!!!!! The horses are mere slaves and do not deserve the cruel treatment they are forced to endure, I have seen this treatment first hand!
