Goal: Prosecute alleged pet abandonment that led to death to the fullest extent.
Cases of pet abandonment have exploded since the pandemic began, leading to tragic results in too many instances. Unfortunately, this worst outcome was realized when two ferrets were allegedly left behind in a Pennsylvania park by their caretakers.
One of the ferrets was discovered after two days of searching. The search originated from reports of a malnourished ferret roaming the park’s grounds. The ferret, while in bad condition at the time, was seen by a vet and eventually placed in a foster home. The second ferret was not so fortunate, as remains were discovered along the side of a nearby road. Once allegedly abandoned, this ferret had been run over at some point.
Pet abandonment is animal cruelty. Sign the petition below to demand full and vigorous prosecution for these apparent crimes.

Dear Ms. Ziccarelli,
Three pet caretakers were recently cited for animal cruelty and neglect. They are accused of abandoning their two pet ferrets in Twin Lakes Park, where one of the ferrets perished. This case is the type of incident that can easily slip through the cracks of the legal system.
Please treat this alleged crime with seriousness. Two living beings suffered, and one of them lost their life. The troubling trend of lenient or non-existent, slap-on-the-wrist punishments for such reported offenses needs to end. Please prosecute with vigilance.

While I agree with you, Tracy, that we should avoid insulting tones in our defense of other animals, let us not divide animal advocates in terms of our abilities to express ourselves. We are at a huge numerical disadvantage with the psychopaths who abandon pets and abuse animals in any way possible. Never be silent against animal injustice — whatever language you use. It’s hard to sound refined when you are outraged.

People here’s an easy tip—- DO NOT GET A PET WITHOUT RESEARCHING THE LONG TERM CARE IT WILL NEED! Also, I blame animal shelters for these abandonments. If shelters did not charge surrender fees, people would not ditch pets on the streets!

Yes but she does have a point with this. They charge for adoption fees and that should be enough. Fundraise for your other money but surrender fees will discourage ppl to surrender and they will abandon also. I mean there are POS who will do it anyway…but fees do not help.

I know of two bunnies that were abandoned at a 711 in the midst of the City and busy streets. What do these ASSHATS think domesticated FED rabbits are going to do to survive???? Just like these two babies. Inexcusable!

There just seems to be NO HUMANITY left in this world! This was of course irresponsible and heartless. If humans are no longer able to care for their pets during hard times, surrender them to a legimate shelter.
All domestic pet abandonment crimes should be treated the same no matter what species. Abandonment is such a cruel way of torturing and killing an animal. It is heartless, cruel, and unacceptable. Domestic animals rely on their care takers for survival. If care takers abandon their responsibility then death is the likely outcome to innocent animals. There should be conviction charges against all those who intentionally and willingly abandon an animal.
Let’s get justice for these poor animals and find the evil scum that did this
How horrible! I can’t believe people who abandon pets don’t suffer tremendously once their conscious kicks in. Abandonment of pets needs to be made punishable by time served either in an institution or through community service that makes them realize the evil they have done.
Humans can be such a waste of space as these ‘people’ clearly are. Find them and punish them for their complete disregard for the lives of others. As someone who is utterly happy to be responsible for cats, dog and chickens I cannot comprehend being so completely callous about just throwing them away.

When you take on a pet, it’s for life. Animals are not something to be discarded when when you’re tired of them. If you can’t take care of a pet, then DON’T get one!!
