Stop Illegal Hunters From Sending Wolves to Second Extinction

Target: Lea Wermelin, Minister of the Environment for Denmark

Goal: Stop illegal killing of endangered wolf populations by angry hunters.

Denmark’s seemingly extinct wolf populations experienced a resurgence when a migrating wolf pack entered the nation a few years ago. The pack was bolstered by European Union protections that have helped these animals grow their populations in several lowland European countries. Tragically, however, once they enter Denmark these wolves’ average life spans shorten to just two years. Illegal killings by humans are to blame.

Of the initial wolf pack that first ventured onto Danish lands from Germany, only one-third remain alive today. Nearly half disappeared. Across the country, 48 percent of wolves are believed to have perished. This average is ten times higher than the mortality rate for wolves in neighboring countries. While no definitive cause has been identified for this trend, researchers theorize that hunters routinely target the predators because they view them as competition for prey like deer. In other words, these hunters may be willfully endangering an already endangered species and violating the law so that they may continue killing other animals unhindered.

Sign the petition below to demand Denmark more strictly enforce protections meant to safeguard living beings at risk of annihilation.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Wermelin,

In Denmark, predators have seemingly become the prey of law-breakers who flaunt authority. Denmark went for nearly two centuries without a single sighting of one of nature’s most majestic and beautiful creatures: the wolf. Protections granted by the European Union gave these beautiful animals a new chance at life.

Now, just a few short years later, the wolf could once again disappear from Danish lands…this time for good. Hunters are the suspected culprits for a decline that has rapidly ravaged nearly half of Denmark’s fledgling wolf population. Hunters who fancy themselves “sportsmen” should not mind a little competition for prey. The wolves do not have the benefit of guns or fancy traps, and they should not be punished for satisfying their natural hunger instincts—as opposed to killing to put a trophy on one’s wall.

Any individual or group who deliberately kills a wolf is knowingly violating the law. Please create stronger systems to identify these criminals and punish them accordingly.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Denmark has dropped so low in my estimation this past week. Firstly they used their navy to defend inbred Faroe Islanders who murdered a super pod of 1,500 innocent dolphins (go Sea Shepherd!) and now they fail to protect a small number of wolves because some lowlifes want to murder deer. Up yours Denmark!!

  2. This is thanks to Denmark which has now apparently become very bad for wildlife and very good at hypocrisy. Besides seemingly *allowing* the wolf killings, the Danes are (again seemingly), supporting the Faroe Island killing of cetaceans. The Faroe Islanders on the 13th of this month herded an entire super-pod of Atlantic white sided dolphins and in a very sadistic way citing the Grindadráp (Faroese for killing pilot whales and dolphins) which is a type of “customary” hunting that involves beaching and killing them and afterwards saying they didn’t “realize” how many there were, simply killed them all. This supposed hundreds of years old “custom” uses powerful motor launches and jet-skis to herd the victims into coves to be slaughtered in the most vile and sadistic way imaginable. Denmark has been supporting this horror in spite of it having signed three European Union conventions whereby it vowed to do everything within its power to protect Cetaceans. On the 13th 1,500 dolphins were horrifically and very cruelly killed in one day. Faroe Islanders like to say they “need the meat” but even local experts admit there is no way this much meat could be consumed by the population and it’s also contaminated. The flesh of these animals apparently now contains very high levels of mercury and pollutants. In fact much of the Faroese population doesn’t need or want it. After all, they now enjoy the highest standard of living in Europe and also receive important subsidies from Europe through Denmark.

  3. Denmark you are a despicable country supporting EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME perpetrated by IGNORANT, PRIMITIVE, DEHUMANIZED AND MENTALLY-DERANGED LOWLIFE:

    1. Denmark, let WOLVES live in peace. They are majestic, beautiful and iconic animals, unlike pea-nut brained hunters you wholeheartedly support.
    2) Denmark, you also promote brainless murders of 1.500 DOLPHINS in the Faroe Islands.
    3. Denmark, you have already mercilessly gassed 17 million minks – a true Nazi-style!!!

    DENMARK = ANIMAL HATERS!!!!

  4. THE DISGUSTING, SICKENING, AND UNACCEPTABLE KILLING OF THESE MAJESTIC AND MAGNIFICENT WILD WOLVES MUST STOP. IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO THESE ANIMALS. WOLVES ARE INTELLIGENT AND SOCIAL ANIMALS THAT DO NOT DESERVE THE DISRESPECT THAT HUNTERS HAVE TOWARD THEM. WOLF HATERS MUST CHANGE THEIR IGNORANT MINDSETS OF FEAR AND IGNORANCE THAT THEY HAVE. FOLLOW THE SCIENCE AND FACTS ABOUT WHAT GOOD THESE ANIMALS DO TO OUR NATIONAL PARKS AND OUR WILD ENVIRONMENTS, AND FOR THE ECOSYSTEMS

  5. THERE IS SOMETHING ROTTEN IN THE KINGDOM OF DENMARK!!!!!!!

    #denmark 🇩🇰👹☠😡🤬🤢🤮

  6. Barbara Garrison says:

Denmark is shameful, and one day they will reap what they sow. The murdering of countless animals for greed and profit is inexcusable, and I hope one day something really bad happens to them.

  7. Michelle Stewart says:

All of those hunters should be shot and killed

    • Annette & Jeff Patrone says:

      THANK YOU, WE SECOND THAT!!!

    • Yes they should and I am sure not all danes are for this. Anyone in denmark that can stop this by any means, do so. If you have a terminal illness or such use your last months or years to take care of the hunter problem. thank you

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE? WILL IT BE THAT WE ARE ALREADY CLOSE TO THE END AS IT HAS BEEN PREDESTINED?

  9. THE TEARFUL EARTH ANSWERS BACK ALL ANIMAL ABUSERS,IN DUE TIME—SINCE THE WOLVES DECIMATE DEER POPULATION PREVENTING DISEASES AND EVEN THE RODENTS–LET THE RODENTS POPULATION EXPLODE AND BRING THEM DIVERSE SICKNESS…HOW MUCH DEER CAN YOU EAT GLUTTON MANKIND??—THE DIVERSE CANCERS AND ARTHRITIS IS CAUSED BY CONSUMING MUCH MEAT.

  10. Wolves are important animals and lead the way in protecting the land. The eco system is destroyed by grazing and the wolf limits grazers. No wolves means no grass, soil runoff polluting ur water ways. Wolves keep things in balance just as the shark keep the ocean in balance. We are in a climate crises, now! We need these animals. They help us. I am dismayed by the actions of Denmark. I held the Danish in a high regard but between dolphin killing for no good reason and allowing supposed hunters to murder wolves too, have no respect left. These are intelligent people doing the most ignorant and detrimental actions.
