Goal: End the horrific practice of dog meat farming in South Korea.
A haunting photo shows dozens of empty collars belonging to dogs that were apparently slaughtered at a meat farm in South Korea. Each collar seems to represent a different dog that was imprisoned for years in a tiny cage, fed garbage for food, and then electrocuted to death in front of their fellow creatures. It is time for the nation of South Korea to end this horrific practice.
The farm in question was owned by a local restaurant owner, who would allegedly raise and slaughter the dogs for meat that he would then sell at his establishment. The dogs were apparently held in filthy wire cages and were denied basic care.
The dogs were all of the Jindo breed, which is considered the national dog for South Korea. Jindos are native to the island that the meat farm was located and the owner had apparently spent the past 20 years breeding and slaughtering animals from this breed.
Local residents had apparently reported hearing dogs crying in terror on the farm.

Dear Moon Jae-in,
An apparent dog meat farm was recently shut down in your country. At the farm, over the past 20 years, countless dogs have reportedly lived miserable lives and faced terrifying ends. While the farm has been shut down, it was closed based on a technicality. Shockingly, dog meat farms are still legal in South Korea.
While every country has different cultures which should be respected, some values are universal. To that end, I hope that you will work to pass legislation in your country that prohibits the farming and slaughter of dogs.
No animals deserve to live or die the way these dogs did. Their cries of terror were apparently reported by local residents and the image of the stack of empty dog collars is haunting.

Nice try Joanne, but you know damn well there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in what they are doing, and how other food animals are treated in civilized countries. These ignorant, yes, ignorant fucks actually believe torturing these poor animals makes their meat better in helping improve a mans virility, and keeping people cool on the hottest days, ABSURD!!! AND what they don’t get, or even care about is even IF true, it does NOT make it ok!!! So, as I started to say, the BIG difference here is they are INTENTIONALLY causing these poor animals unnecessary PAIN & FEAR, whereas the majority of the rest of the world tries to slaughter their animals as quickly, and HUMANELY as possible!!! There are even laws in regards to how farm animals are treated, not that they are always followed by every worker, but for most part they are, and that is why your question is ridiculous. Do I like seeing any animal killed for food, even humanely, NO, I HATE IT, and struggle with it always, BUT I still believe they are God’s gift to sustain us, and even IF in a “perfect” world all people stopped eating all animals, guess what? I hate to tell you this, Kristine, but that is simply not true. We would like to think that we are above this kind of thing, but our factory farms and slaughterhouses are full of atrocities. I’m not going to try to convince you of that fact, you can do the research and learn about it for yourself.
The fact that this kind of stuff happens all over the world doesn’t make it right ANYwhere, but make no mistake about it…it happens here too.
I highly recommend finding out where your leather, down, milk, eggs, and wool come from as well – it’s just horrible. I went vegan after learning about all of this stuff and have never looked back.
Hopefully one day, this sort of cruelty won’t exist, but in the meantime, it’s comforting to know there are people who care enough to try to change things for the better.

Serena, I am well aware of the atrocities of slaughter, it’s not pretty, I sign LOTS of petitions to protect animals of all kinds, and I clearly stated I don’t like any of it, I was simply pointing out that there is a BIG difference between slaughter in most civilized countries, and this INTENTIONAL TORTURE these psychos put poor dogs & cats through, they PURPOSELY try to inflict as much pain & fear upon them as they can, due to their ignorant belief that the adrenaline caused by the pain & fear makes their meat better. No, slaughterhouses are not a happy place, and some psycho employees can be exceptionally cruel, and are hopefully fired when caught, BUT most are not purposely doing what these dog meat farmers are, can you not see the simple point I was making? And that animals will not stop attacking, and eating each other for survival, even if every human on earth went vegan? Yes, more work needs to be done even here in US to protect animals, and I don’t support “factory” farming, and speeding things up for profit at the expense of the poor animals, but you’re never going to stop all people world wide to stop eating animals, so the best we can do is keep fighting for their protection, and continue to teach compassion for all life. These cruelties to these dogs are heartbreaking. I understand that different countries have different thoughts of what they consider edible foods. We are appalled that dogs are food when we consider dogs as pets and part of our families. But, keeping these dogs in small, filthy cages and electrocuting them in front of each other is horrible.
