Shame on Toyota for Making Climate Change Worse

Target: Akio Toyoda, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation
Goal: Stop opposing efforts to fight climate change.

While most major car makers are supporting efforts to restrict tailpipe emissions that worsen climate change, Toyota has taken the opposite approach, and is quietly lobbying governments across the globe to reject climate change regulations. Once a world leader in cleaner car technology, Toyota has changed its tune and is now a leader in making climate change worse.

Governments around the globe are pushing to transition from gas powered vehicles towards all-electric cars which contribute much less to climate change. However, Toyota’s share of the all-electric market is tiny and their technology in this space is apparently unprepared for the shift to full-electric vehicles. Instead of being prepared for this shift or solving their internal problems, they’ve apparently chosen instead to undermine global efforts to reduce emissions. More pollution is seemingly good for their bottom line.

InfluenceMap, which tracks business’ efforts to fight or oppose climate change efforts, gives Toyota a “D-” grade which is the worst among automakers. They have stated that Toyota uses its lobbying influence to undermine public climate goals.

In this day and age of daily climate change-driven disasters, we cannot afford to allow a powerful corporation to undermine global efforts to save our planet.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Akio Toyoda,

It was recently reported that Toyota has been working to undermine global efforts to combat climate change. In this day and age of clear and present climate change-driven disasters, the time for inaction has long since past. Unfortunately, it appears Toyota’s crimes against the planet are worse than inaction. Apparently, Toyota has been quietly lobbying government across the planet to oppose climate change regulations.

It was not that long ago that Toyota was a leader in moving the automotive industry towards cleaner technology. However, those days are apparently long gone. Now, Toyota appears to be a greedy corporation that is leading the efforts to stop climate change regulation and to continue polluting our planet.

While the hour is late, there is still time for you to change course. Please accept that major changes must be made to all industries, including the automotive industry, if we are to protect the human race from the worst ravages of climate change. In order to do so, your company must stop working against efforts to fight climate change.

Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

What the hell happened? Who is running Toyota? I have a prius. They were at the forefront of hybrids. And they also continued to donate to the seditionists who voted to overthrow a legitimate election. Whoever it is that’s taken over Toyota, they need to get rid of that person, because they are going to lose a lot of business. You know who buys Toyota Prius’s? Liberals. If they lose American liberals, they are screwed.

  6. Michelle Stewart says:

I have never owned any Toyota vehicles. Will not waste my money buying a vehicle from that company

  7. Laura Eiden says:

Before accusing Toyota you should do a proper investigation what it really takes to build a battery for one vehicle, where materials come from and most importantly that electricity is produced in coal powered station. Best solution no car at all..

  8. I agree with Laura but where do we park our horses? I’m getting too old to ride a bike unless on a shady trail. I have a Toyota. I read they, in fact, gave money to politicians on the Trump side. And now this? I ever admired the Japanese culture for their ethics in work, in country, as well as history. After this I can’t respect a company hiring lobbyists to make sure climate change eats us alive. It will. How stupid and greedy can corporations be? The bottom line is meaningless with out a planet. All of us, everyone on earth, must cooperate to end the climate crises. We make it together or we don’t make it at all.

  9. Evan Jane Kriss says:

BOYCOTT TOYOTA!!! This is shameful and inexcusable. Spread the word.

  10. Boycott TOYOTA!
We have never bought one, and certainly will not consider buying a Toyota in the future.

  11. All of these companies paused giving money to insurrection supporters, then resumed:
    American Airlines
    Cigna
    Aflac
    UPS
    Lockheed Martin
    Northrop Grumman
    Boeing
    General Motors**
    Ford**
    JetBlue
    Southern Co.

    **Note the American car companies!

And these companies said they’d stop contributing, but restarted anyway(!):
    Walmart
    PNC
    Johnson & Johnson
    Comcast
    General Electric (GE)
    Pfizer
    Home Depot
    Gap
    AT&T

    Boycott them all!

  12. Frank Jameson says:

Climate change is an excuse for governments to charge tax.
Pollution is a REAL concern, I totally agree.
But climate change is government greed. The planet is not warming up any more than it was a few hundred years ago.
    Weather and Climate is cyclical.
example: “The hottest day since 90 years ago” means that it was just as hot 90 years ago.
Signing this petition is helping gangster government of the world charge money for something which is not a danger.
However, pollution is something which needs to be regulated as pollution is horrible and causes horrible air.
But it does NOT cause a whole planet to heat up!

    • Charlotte Mush says:

You know so little about science. It’s not just the pollution that causes climate change, it’s CO2 from vehicles, factories, refineries, etc. if you have more CO2 in the atmosphere than oxygen, then it’s a real game changer. Governments have nothing to do with the fact that in the pre-Industrial Age there was less CO2 in the atmosphere than now. I’m a meteorologist and I can confirm that climate change is real.

  13. Maria Bertrand says:

    Yep…… Boycott TOYOTA!

Not interested in supporting any company that undermines positive initiatives behind closed doors who are void of integrity …can’t be trusted….

  14. I was going top buy a Toyota but not now! I will NEVER EVER purchase a car made by these stupid scumbags. BOYCOTT these evil cretins.

  15. Ahhh yes…gilda and the other rabid leftists think that if they don’t patronize Toyota that the climate of the earth will magically clean up. Ok, I own three Toyotas, a Highlander, and two 4×4 Tacomas…and I’ve never had a Toyota that gave me less than a hundred and fifty thousand miles…I buy a new one because of boredom rather than wearing them out. So y’all keep whining about them and I’ll keep buying them. Algore certainly put a sales job on this group, didn’t he?? Climate change…yeah, as an ex-Air Force weather weenie I don’t believe in climate change because it takes many years and just twenty years ago y’all were whining about the coming ice age! Remember that boys and girls??

  16. Let’s stop relying on automobile dependency and switch to public transportation as a way to help cut air pollution, that’s an only workaround. However; we need to prevent large companies from denying climate change.
I don’t own an automobile because, I prefer public transportation as I go to work, shopping, etc.

  17. STOP YOUR BRAINLESS GREED!
    BOYCOTT TOYOTA!!!!!!!
    Never buy a TOYOTA!!!!!

  18. Boycott, vile, environmental destroying Toyota!

  19. Have owned multiple Toyotas throughout the years. Now taking the pledge to never buy that make again. Massive disappointment in learning about Toyota’s actions.
