Support California in its Oil-Free Future

Target: Gavin Newsom, Governor of California

Goal: Encourage Governor Newsom in his goal to stop oil drilling in California by 2045.

The government in California has announced that it will no longer issue fracking permits after 2024. Not only that, they will ban the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035, and 2045 will see the end of oil drilling in the state. This is a huge step for one of the largest oil producers in the US to take such bold actions for the environment.

Ending fracking in a few short years on its own is a significant step forward. Environmental groups have been working for years to end this particularly devastating oil-extraction method.

This will be a long legal battle for the governor, and he needs to be encouraged to continue forward as he helps create a cleaner, greener future.

Sign this petition to encourage him in his ambitious efforts.

Dear Governor Newsom,

I applaud your efforts to end the oil and gas industry in California. Your goals are very ambitious, and your deadlines will go a long way to stopping environmentally destructive practices before the damage becomes irreparable.

In particular, stopping fracking permits by 2024 is a great first step, and it is wonderful to see that your state is working towards an oil-free state by 2045. I hope your actions will resonate with the consciences of other governors and will encourage them to make similar choices.
