Twenty-One Decapitated Seals Deserve Justice

Target: Bernadette Jordan, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard

Goal: Seek justice for 21 seals found decapitated in Nova Scotia.

Twenty-one beheaded seals have been found washed up on the shores of Nova Scotia. It is likely that these animals were victims of a horrendous act, and the perpetrators must be swiftly caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Occasionally wild animals are beheaded by natural acts but in this case, the sheer number of beheaded seals seems to make that unlikely. It has been observed where seals’ heads have been crushed by shifting ice floes. However, the number of incidents in a single locality points to foul play.

Similar brutal acts occurred previously on the west coast, where numerous sea lions were beheaded by people. At that time, one incident was even filmed. The similarities between these isolated incidents point to a brutal massacre of innocent seals at the hands of humans.

Sign this petition to urge the government to investigate this matter thoroughly, and respond accordingly.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Honorable Jordan,

It is sad to hear of the 21 seals found headless on the coast of Nova Scotia. The similarities between this and another incident involving sea lions last year are appalling. Perpetrators of such crimes need to be severely punished to deter similar gruesome acts in the future.

Sometimes seal beheadings may be a natural occurrence caused by drifting ice, but in this case the sheer number of victims makes that seem unlikely. I urge your government to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine the true cause. If malintent is found, these disgusting criminals need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

I actually found these poor decapitated seals and reported it as it was horrific. Took quite a few photos as well but it doesn’t seem like DFO seems to care. They were blaming it on ice…but earlier in the year they said lack of ice was making more seals come ashore. Whatever happened to them, it did not look natural 🙁
