Biden: Prioritize Common Sense Gun Laws in the Wake of 50 Mass Shootings

Target: Joe Biden, President of the United States

Goal: Prioritize legislation that will mitigate gun violence.

There have been at least 50 mass shootings since the one in Atlanta, where Asian-owned and operated salons and massage parlors were targeted. This shooting made national news and since then gun violence has continued to go unchecked. Recently, a drive-by attack in Ohio left a 39-year-old woman dead and five others injured. In Wisconsin, a shooting in a bar resulted in three deaths and three people injured. A domestic situation involving a gun left law enforcement officials searching for the gunman in Texas. A shooting at a FedEx facility in Indiana claimed eight lives.

There is a pattern of gun violence going unchecked in the United States and it has become an epidemic in its own right. The suspect in the FedEx shooting was known to the FBI and had been interviewed by police, who seized his shotgun, last year. The suspect’s mother warned that he was a threat to himself and the public. However, the suspect went on to legally purchase two assault rifles just months after his interaction with the police. These two weapons were reportedly used in the FedEx attack.

Gun violence in the United States must be stopped. Sign this petition to urge President Biden to prioritize legislation that will mitigate gun violence.

PETITION LETTER:

To President Biden,

The senseless loss of American lives to gun violence must be stopped. It is shameful that there have been at least fifty instances of mass shootings in the United States over the course of the past month. Innocent people are dying because gun purchase and ownership in the United States is too relaxed and unchecked. Common sense gun laws that consider the mental health and wellness of gun owners and criminal history must be enacted for the safety of Americans everywhere.

I urge you to prioritize legislation that directly works to mitigate gun violence and mass shootings in the United States.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
