Trump: Take Responsibility for Death of Veteran at Capitol Insurrection

Goal: Take responsibility for the death of Air Force veteran shot and killed at January 6 insurrection.

Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran, was shot and killed by US Capitol Police on January 6. Babbitt was part of the pro-Trump mob that attempted to gain entrance to the floor of the House through the Speaker’s Lobby while officers were actively evacuating lawmakers from the chamber. The mob shattered the lobby’s glass doors and Babbitt tried to climb through the broken glass. A police officer on the other side fired a single shot, hitting Babbitt in the shoulder. She was transported to a hospital, where she died.

Prosecutors are not pursuing criminal charges of the Capitol Police officer who fired the shot. The Justice Department formally closed the case following a preliminary inquiry that determined that charges were not warranted. Babbitt was one of five people who died as a result of the insurrection on the Capitol and its aftermath–an insurrection that former-president Trump called for and incited. Five people died as a result of the insurrection on the Capitol on January 6. One of those individuals was Ashley Babbitt. She was only 35 years old and she was a veteran. She died in service to a cause built on the foundations of your lies about election fraud and a stolen election. Her life was lost in vain. You must take responsibility for the death of Ashley Babbitt, one of your supporters who was willing to die for your egotistical power-grab. Take responsibility for Babbitt’s death and express condolences to her family and loved ones.
