Target: Utah Senator Gene Davis
Goal: Commend Utah Senator for supporting three bills that will condemn animal cruelty
Senator Gene Davis of Utah has been working with multiple animal rights groups to ensure the passage of three bills that are designed to help protect animals in the state. The passing of these bills will better protect the animals in Utah, and the Senator must be supported for these actions.
The Senator will be backing bills that will make cockfighting a felony, limit dog tethering, and stop the sale of dogs in public places. The bills also give law enforcement officers the right to enter a vehicle to remove an animal if it appears to be in distress. These bills will create stronger protection for animals and they will allow law enforcement to take action against those who commit animal cruelty. Criminalizing animal abusers will make Utah a safer state and will stop people from committing other criminal acts.
Utah is only one of ten states that don’t currently criminalize cockfighting. The tethering bill will also make it illegal to leave a dog tied outside for more than ten hours a day, and prohibiting the sale of dogs in public places will cut down on impulsive buying. These three bills will help protect the animals in Utah and create a more humane environment. Sign the petition below to support the Senator in the passing of these bills.
Dear Senator Davis,
Your efforts in passing three bills to protect the animals of Utah will benefit the entire state. Not only will the animals be safer, but the people will be safer with animal abusers off of the streets. It is a known fact that those who commit acts of animal cruelty will commit other crimes as well. These people need to face criminal punishments so that it is known that their actions are unacceptable. You are helping your state to progress into a safer community.
Should your state pass these bills, other states without strict animal cruelty laws will be sure to notice and hopefully change their laws to create more protection for the animals. They can’t speak up for themselves and it is comforting to know that someone in a position of power like you will speak for them and defend their rights. Abusing an animal is no better than abusing a human, and your state will be in a better position once that is recognized.
We want to thank you for your efforts on these bills. If passed, your state will be sure to see a vast improvement in crime rates and less abusing of animals. On behalf of the animals you are fighting for, I thank you.
