Target: Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
Goal: Thank the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation for reducing the impact of AIDS in Africa.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) has made sizable progress in helping to diminish the impact of AIDS in Africa. It has accomplished this by a series of programs, which focus on education, preventing the spread of HIV from mother to child, health screenings, and research. This organization, which operates in more than 12 countries, has also helped several million women in the past decade by providing HIV tests and counseling.
The HIV virus has been devastating to the peoples of Africa, in part because many lack basic sex education and birth control. As a result, HIV is often transferred from mother to child through breastfeeding. More than four million women have received education and treatment from EPGAF during pregnancy, helping to mitigate the transmission of HIV to future generations. This foundation has also provided much-needed treatments to more than a half million people who were suffering from AIDS and lacked access to medical care.
EPGAF is rated as one of the most financially responsible charities in the world and maintains an ‘A’ rating from the Better Business Bureau. The vast majority of donations go directly towards life-saving research, medicine, education, testing, and improving medical care facilities. Thank the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation for reducing the impact of AIDS in Africa.
