Support Banning Trump From Twitter

Target: Jack Dorsey, Co-Founder and CEO of Twitter

Goal: Support decision to permanently ban President Trump from accessing Twitter.

A violent group of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building while Congress was in session, breaking windows, scaling walls, and forcing entry into the building. Five people have died as a result of the insurrection. The violence and unrest at the Capitol is directly related to the rhetoric of President Trump. Since the presidential election in November, Trump has refused to concede or accept the results of the vote. He has asserted time and again that the election was fraudulent, despite there being no evidence to support his claim. President Trump directly stoked the flames of discontent with the results of the election and the people that wreaked havoc at the Capitol were wearing his name emblazoned on shirts and carrying his name on flags.

In response to the attack on the Capitol, Trump released a video message on Twitter that responded to the rioters by telling them “we love you” and that they are “special” people. This and other incendiary tweets have prompted Twitter to finally ban Trump’s account permanently. The ability to quickly communicate with millions of people is potentially dangerous during this transition of power, especially when the president continues to falsely claim that the election was fraudulent.

Sign this petition to thank Twitter for removing Trump’s lies and dangerous rhetoric from its platform.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Dorsey,

Five people are dead as a result of a violet riot and storming of the Capitol building by citizens emboldened by President Trump. In the midst of the chaos, President Trump took to Twitter to tell rioters that he loves them and that they are special people, suggesting that he understands their feelings of anger.

President Trump poses a danger not only to the democracy of our country but to the citizens of the United States. His language and rhetoric could potentially incite other violent and deadly riots. I thank you for banning Trump from Twitter and urge you to stand firm in this decision so that he can never use the platform again.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
