Stop the Apparent Systemic Discrimination Against Arabs on Planes

Target: Alaska Airlines CEO Bradley D. Tilden

Goal: Apologize for reportedly ejecting two Muslim men from a flight and offer them free flight credits.

Two men were reportedly kicked off their Alaska Airlines flight because they were texting in Arabic. Abobakkr and Mohamad were on a first class business trip in February when they were allegedly asked by flight attendants to leave the plane with their bags immediately. When asked what they did wrong, they were seemingly told it was because another passenger was uncomfortable with their texting in Arabic, despite the passenger not speaking the language.

Alaska Airlines has issued an apology that seemingly doesn’t take any responsibility, but this doesn’t go far enough. They need to be held accountable for their alleged racist policy decisions. Demand these two men receive a public apology from the CEO of Alaska Airlines and that they receive free travel as retribution.

Dear Mr. Tilden,

Imagine you are sitting on a plane, waiting to take off, and you text your friend a joke. Then, you are ripped out of your seat and seemingly treated as a criminal, forced to find another way to your next destination. Abobakkr and Mohamad were doing just this when employees of Alaska Airlines apparently deemed them to be too suspicious to fly.

Muslims face extreme amounts of discrimination every day, from their employers, law enforcement, and especially airline employees. Ever since 9/11 Arabs have been falsely accused of terrorism on a frequent basis. One of the best ways to right this wrong would be to publicly apologize for this alleged incident and offer free flight credits to the two men involved. We demand you right this apparent wrong, immediately!
