Biden: Continue to Advocate for Rescue Dogs and All Animals in Need

Target: Joe Biden, President-Elect of the United States

Goal: Continue to advocate for rescue dogs and all animals in need.

President-Elect Joe Biden will bring two dogs with him into the White House when he takes office. Biden’s German shepherd, Major, will be the first rescue dog to ever live in the White House. Biden adopted Major from the Delaware Humane Association in November of 2018. At that time, Biden was already caretaker to Champ, his first German shepherd, for ten years. Upon adopting Major, the Bidens said in a statement, “We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals.” The Delaware Humane Association said that Major was part of a litter that was surrendered to the organization. The Delaware Humane Association said, “Once we posted about them…Joe Biden caught wind of them and reached out immediately. The rest is history.”

Champ and Major are both frequently featured on Biden’s social media pages and even made some key appearances leading up to the election, with captions such as, “No ruff days on the [campaign] trail when I have some Major motivation.”

Sign this petition to urge Joe Biden to continue to advocate for rescue dogs and all animals in need throughout his term as President of the United States.

Dear President-Elect Biden,

While there are many issues that you will face as the President of the United States, one that cannot be forgotten is the protection of and advocating for rescue dogs and all animals in need. It is historic that Major will be the first rescue dog to live in the White House. As your family’s choices and tastes influence our nation, I am sure that the presence of a rescue dog in the White House will open American’s eyes to the beauty of adopting a pet in need.

I urge you to continue to advocate for animals in need and to consider the health and wellness of animals–who have no voice of their own–in your policies and decisions throughout your term as President of the United States.
