Target: Roger Ailes, CEO of Fox News
Goal: Stop publishing offensive articles written by anti-feminist Suzanne Venker
In late 2012, Fox News published an article written by anti-feminist Suzanne Venker. This article, “The War On Men,” was widely criticized for its misogynistic and offensive ideas. Recently, another article of Venker’s was published supporting these same misogynistic ideas. Since Venker’s portfolio consists solely of these offensive articles, call on the CEO of Fox News to stop publishing her hateful ideas.
Venker’s first article with Fox News was widely criticized. She was called out for “not helping” and even “betraying” other women. Her new article, “To Be Happy, We Must Admit Men and Women Aren’t Equal,” contains many of the same hateful and misogynistic ideas that drew controversy before. She claims that there are few female CEOs because “men and women may be capable of doing many of the same things, but that doesn’t mean they want to.” She also ends the article with the classic gender divide argument: “We know little girls love their dolls and boys just want to kick that ball.” Venker’s claims in this article are unsubstantiated and misogynistic. She claims that women are stopping themselves from being CEOs or playing sports, instead of recognizing any real problems facing women in society.
Venker’s articles do not contribute anything to Fox News readers beyond false and misogynistic ideas. Spreading these ideas to a national audience will only further misconstrue our country’s views of gender. Suzanne Venker has written nothing but hateful, misogynistic, and offensive articles. These articles do not deserve national publication. Tell Fox News to stop publishing Venker’s articles immediately.
Dear Mr. Ailes:
Recently, Fox News published an article by anti-feminist Suzanne Venker that is full of misogynistic and offensive ideas. Venker has had two articles published previously with Fox News. Both of them also drew criticism for their offensive content. Venker’s articles are all misogynistic and spread false gender ideas to your readers.
I ask you to stop publishing articles written by Suzanne Venker. She has not written anything but these hateful and misogynistic ideas, and there is no reason to believe she would write anything different in the future. Stop publishing her articles to prevent the further confusion of gender stereotypes at the national level.
