Trump: Apologize for Walking Out of “60 Minutes” Interview

Target: Donald Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Apologize for walking out of “60 Minutes” interview with Lesley Stahl.

President Trump recently walked out of an interview with seasoned journalist Lesley Stahl that was being recorded for “60 Minutes,” aired by CBS. The president also did not complete other scheduled events with the show, such as a walk around the White House or a joint interview with Vice President Pence. President Trump’s frustration was evident as he claimed that he was asked “tough questions” that were of a different caliber than those asked of his 2020 presidential opponent, Joe Biden. President Trump also insinuated that Stahl was part of the “fake news” media.

While President Trump’s antics were personally offensive and generally unprofessional, they may perhaps go against the job description of President of the United States. One of the eight presidential roles is Chief Citizen. The president serves as a representative of all the people of the United States and works in their interest. By refusing to answer the “tough questions” about policy and national unrest under his presidency, President Trump skirted his duty of working in the interest of the people.

In the midst of a global pandemic and within days of a national presidential election, Trump should be able to provide answers to the American people whom he represents. Sign this petition to urge President Trump to apologize for walking out of the “60 Minutes” interview.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

Walking out of an interview in response to “tough questions” or questions that you do not like is a reasonable action for a dramatic celebrity. It is not an option for the President of the United States, who serves in the interest of all Americans and has a duty to be forthright with the public. Your recent actions in the interview with Lesley Stahl for “60 Minutes” were rude, unprofessional, and–most importantly–unpresidential. Your mocking the interview process after walking out and not completing the engagement furthered your lack of respect for the American people across party lines, many of whom would have liked to engage with your answers to the questions posed in the interview.

By ending the interview early, you’ve robbed the American people of clarity in the days leading up to an election during an unprecedented global pandemic. I urge you to apologize for walking out of the “60 Minutes” interview with Lesley Stahl.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

    TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP!
Boy, is Force Change going to REGRET all of its ridiculous criticisms and attacks on our GREAT PRESIDENT…. and SOON!

That was not behavior one expects to see from the leader of a powerful nation. It’s more in keeping with a spoiled, arrogant, immature TV star. Oh, that’s right. Trump is all of the above.
