Trump: Stop Fighting to Let Employers Steal From Their Workers

Target: Donald J. Trump, President of the United States

Goal: Stop potential appeal of case that would prevent employees from suing for unpaid wages.

The Trump administration had a major loss in the courts as a judge ruled that its attempted destruction of an employee’s right to sue for unpaid wages wasn’t acceptable. The administration was trying to make it so that major corporations were not liable for lost wages or unpaid overtime because that responsibility fell on the franchisees, despite the fact that the corporations themselves make the rules that lead to these discrepancies.

The judge ruled in favor the workers, but the Trump administration may still appeal. If we make enough noise and make it clear that we won’t let this stand, the administration could still be convinced that the appeal isn’t worth doing. Sign our petition and demand that Trump stop trying to make it harder for workers to get what is rightfully theirs.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

Your administration’s loss in court to try to take away workers’ rights to sue for unpaid wages is a big victory for workers. You seem to be convinced that it is best to try to make things harder on working class Americans, rather than help them, and this is unacceptable.

You still have the opportunity to appeal the decision, but we are sincerely hoping that you will reconsider and drop the case. Americans who are screwed over by their employers deserve to be paid for their work. It is hard enough to make a living in this country when minimum wage is so far below a livable income. Don’t make it harder for workers to get what is rightfully theirs. Drop the case.
