Goal: Stop spreading racist and xenophobic messages towards China for political gain.
Between blaming China’s government for COVID-19 and claiming China is a threat to the United States, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and President Donald Trump continue to fearmonger in regards to China. By promoting xenophobia and specifically hatred towards the Chinese, the administration seeks to perpetuate an “us vs. them” mentality in order to gain support. They can’t be allowed to get away with it.
There are more than a billion Chinese people who mean absolutely no harm, and are merely regular working people trying to survive day to day like anyone else. Using fear tactics to treat Chinese people as something to fear is not only an insult to the intelligence of Americans, but a blatantly racist attempt to create an enemy where there simply does not need to be one. Sign our petition and tell Secretary of State Pompeo to stop perpetuating hatred for political gain.

Dear Secretary Pompeo,
Fearmongering as a means of gaining support for the Trump administration is not only not going to work, it is brazenly harmful towards East Asian people both in the US and abroad. Treating Chinese people as some sort of enemy not only has no basis in reality, but it serves to perpetuate harmful stereotypes and encourage bigotry. This is not acceptable.
The days of American imperialism and promoting fear of the “other” need to come to an end. There is no reason that any tension with foreign powers cannot be resolved peacefully. The American people are tired of conflict and threats of war. Do your job as Secretary of State and promote peace, not hate and violence. Far too many lives depend on it, both in the US and in China.
