Don’t Allow Census to Leave Behind Minority Communities

Target: Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House

Goal: Restore the original timeline for census completion to ensure accurate data.

Minority communities are under threat of losing important funding because data collection for the United States Census has been cut short. Because bills to extend it are stalled in Congress, census data may be inaccurate, especially in hard-to-count communities.

This is a big problem, as federal funding is allocated based on census data. If this is allowed to continue, money that minority communities desperately need simply won’t be enough. Sign our petition and demand that Speaker Nancy Pelosi makes sure that minority communities aren’t left behind by the census.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Speaker Pelosi,

Allowing data collection for the United States Census to be cut short is unacceptable. Minority communities across the country depend on the funds that are allocated based on accurate information. Allowing the census committee to potentially have incomplete data does a major disservice to these people.

Don’t allow minority communities to go underfunded because of the census. Something needs to be done by you and your House of Representatives to ensure that the data is accurate. Black, Indigenous, and people of color in the United States are far too often left behind and allowing this to happen would be an injustice to far too many Americans.

Sincerely,
