Target: Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education
Goal: Stop the deadly spread of COVID-19 by shutting down all in-person classes across the country.
There are already hundreds of new cases of COVID-19 in the United States directly linked to schools being reopened for in-person classes. Experts warn that re-opening schools is a bad idea, as an indoor, group setting is still considered to be the environment most ripe for disease. In addition, they worry about the elderly and at-risk population putting their lives on the line for an in-person education, including teachers, bus drivers, maintenance workers, and cafeteria workers.
There is no excuse for allowing in-person instruction to continue nationwide during this pandemic. Countless lives will be lost or permanently changed by allowing the spread of COVID-19 to continue unchecked. Sign our petition to demand that Secretary of State Betsy DeVos do her job and protect students and their families.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Secretary DeVos,
You were warned by experts against reopening schools, but you did it anyway. Now there are hundreds of new cases of COVID-19 already connected to in-person instruction. This is unacceptable.
There is no valid reason to put people’s lives at risk for in-person classes. Until this pandemic is over, schools need to be 100% online. Any other option is not acceptable, as human lives are worth more than any excuse you can come up with for allowing this pandemic to continue.
If you care even a little about the lives of students and their families, stop in-person classes right now.
Sincerely,

One of the best things to do right now would be to pause in person schedules. The public’s health is at stake.
