Target: Rep. Ted Yoho, Congressman from Florida
Goal: Resignation of Yoho for using misogynistic slur against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Congressman Ted Yoho of Florida reportedly got in an argument with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and called her a “f—- bitch,” a misogynistic slur not acceptable for any person to make, least of all a sitting member of the United States House of Representatives.
After the incident, Yoho offered a half-hearted apology on the floor of the House of Representatives, but it was not enough. No person should behave that way and keep their job, and we should hold representatives to an even higher standard than that. Demand that Representative Yoho resigns from Congress immediately and allows someone with basic respect for women to take his place.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Congressman Yoho,
Your half-hearted apology towards Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not enough. You have no business continuing as a member of the House of Representatives if you don’t even have the base level respect for women required to treat your female colleagues with dignity. There is no excuse for this.
In any other job in the country outside of politics, you would be fired from the position. We should hold our representatives to a higher standard. If you value the dignity of the House of Representatives at all, resign from your position and allow someone with respect for women to take your place.
