Justice for Woman Beaten to Death and Left Alone in the Road

Target: Aaron Jelcick, Interim Olympia Police Chief

Goal: Find the individual who beat Yvonne McDonald to death and provide answers for her grieving family.

On the morning of August 7th, 2018, an Olympia street sweeper found 56-year-old Yvonne McDonald unconscious in the middle of the road. Her shirt was undone, and her pants and underwear were around her ankles. The street sweeper called the police, and McDonald was taken to the hospital where she later died. Her death was ruled a result of blunt force trauma to the abdomen complicated by alcoholism. McDonald had bruises on her thighs and hips, scratches on her face, and trace amounts of male DNA on her hand and mouth. The examiners ruled that McDonald had not been raped or assaulted despite the deeply suspicious circumstances and questionable evidence.

Yvonne McDonald’s death is still undetermined by the police, and years after her death, they have not released her autopsy records to her family. McDonald’s niece has said publicly that she believes that the police know more than they’re saying. Many of her family members feel strongly that the investigation was racially biased, and the police did not do enough.

This family is desperate for answers. They have gone for years with no information and no closure. The court needs to release Yvonne McDonald’s autopsy records to her family, and the police must increase their efforts in finding out what and who exactly ended Yvonne Mcdonald’s life. Sign this petition now demanding justice for Yvonne.

Dear Chief Jelcick,

The Olympia community has been waiting years for answers in the Yvonne McDonald case. The circumstances of her death were extraordinarily suspicious, and many people in the community feel that the police department failed to adequately investigate the incident.

It is disturbing that Yvonne McDonald died in 2018, and there is still no movement in her case. Her family deserves to know what happened to her. It is imperative that her autopsy records be released to them immediately. Furthermore, her death should be further investigated until there is more concrete proof of whether her death was an accident or the result of malicious activity. Please use your authority to further Yvonne McDonald’s case and bring closure to her family.
