Declare the Ku Klux Klan a Terrorist Organization

Target: Chad Wolf, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

Goal: Launch an investigation into the KKK and declare them and other white supremacist groups as terrorist organizations.

For generations, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) has led a campaign of terror against Black people in the United States. American history books are filled with images of the group’s members wearing white hoods and murdering Black individuals in the most heinous ways. For many, the name KKK brings to mind images of flaming effigies, lynchings, hangings, terror, and hate.

The first amendment has protected the KKK since the organization was started in 1865. It is one of the only organizations in America that has documented proof of its members killing Americans and destroying their property. That is domestic terrorism. The KKK believes that America would be greater if it weren’t diverse; that is a belief system that leads to genocide.

The KKK is founded on violence. The original goal of this organization was to disenfranchise Black Americans and push back the changes in the reconstruction era. The hate that fuels this group is dangerous and unwieldy. The group got so violent that its founding member, Nathan Bedford Forrest, tried to disband it four years after it was created. Additionally, in 1871, Ulysses S. Grant passed the Third Force Act to arrest and dissolve the members of the KKK. This act was later deemed unconstitutional but was responsible for the diminished activity of the organization for quite some time. Since then, the KKK has had a massive resurgence, and countless white supremacist hate groups have emulated their views and followed in the footsteps of their violence.

The FBI classifies Domestic Terrorism as “violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial. or environmental nature.” That is the definition of what we have seen from the KKK for the past 155 years. Sign below and demand that the US government re-examine its stance on the KKK and designate it as a terrorist group.

Dear Secretary Wolf,

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) has terrorized Black Americans since 1865. They are the textbook definition of a Domestic Terrorist group. Yet, for the past 155 years, they have been protected under the First Amendment in their quest to dismantle and destroy American Diversity. It is time for those protections to be lifted.

There is no excuse for protecting an organization that has a documented history of murdering American Citizens, burning American churches, and destroying American Homes. The KKK is a dangerous and hateful organization, and it must be treated as such. If the group were targeting white Americans, it would have been shut down in 1865. We must remedy this. It is time for our Government to protect the safety of every American. Classify the KKK as a terrorist organization immediately.

Homeland Security shouldn’t have a problem picking them up at airports. Just look for a terrorist wearing a Capirote outfit.

  6. Evan Jane Kriss says:

WHY on earth does the KKK EXIST in 21st century America?
