Goal: Cancel plans for destructive dredging and demolitions in the Amazon River Basin.
Rare Amazonian turtles, endangered Araguaian river dolphins, and a dozen threatened fish species could soon be under attack by Brazilian engineering firm DTA Engineering in their plans to dynamite, dredge, and fill with sand the bed of an area of the Tocantins River known as the Lourencão Rocks. The plans to create a viable shipping channel would see the company destroy 22 miles of the ecologically priceless 28-mile stretch of river. Brazil’s increasingly-harassed environmental protection agency, IBAMA, has criticized the impact report submitted for the project, pointing out that the company has failed to be honest about the number of animals placed in harm’s way and ordered them to complete a new report.
In addition to rare wildlife, hundreds of locals depend on the river for income and food, employing traditional methods of fishing to feed themselves and their families. Research has shown that wildlife, forests, and rural Brazilians are under increasing threat of health risks, property damage, and death as the destruction of the complex Amazon region continues under President Jair Bolsonaro’s exploitative rule.
The destruction of the Lourencão Rocks would be an unforgivable and irreversible ecological crime. Sign the petition below to demand that the lives of human and animal residents of the region be spared.

The plan to dynamite, dredge, and fill the Tocantins River along the Lourencão Rocks with 5.6 million cubic meters of sand may result in increased profitability from shipping in the short term, but it would be an irreversible ecological crime. At risk are over a dozen endangered species and the livelihoods of hundreds of Brazilians.
I demand that you withdraw from this obscene plan and focus your energies on constructive efforts elsewhere.

It is easier to destroy than to build. Destruction always comes with a price tag: in the long term, all profits are outweighed by repair costs. Brasil: do not count on other countries if you are in need yourself (because your system fails, the offer does not meet the demand, etc.). Stop, the Amazon region has already given up enough and nature is getting more and more revenge …
The Amazon rainforest is now half gone! The remaining half SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED!
Unfortunately, money and profits talk – conservation doesn’t. So the engineering project will proceed, and the animals that are killed, are just collateral damage. That’s how the world works.

I am so sick of people harming our environment! They are terribly cruel, and they just dont care! They only care about themselves! They are disgustingly selfish! They must be stopped!
