Grant Stimulus Checks to Taxpayers Struggling During Pandemic

Target: Larry Kudlow, White House National Economic Council Director

Goal: Support a second round of coronavirus stimulus checks for US taxpayers.

A second round of coronavirus stimulus checks for US taxpayers remains unsupported, despite the fact that President Trump has told aides that he approves of granting Americans more financial aid. The president has expressed that the payments will boost the economy and yet senior White House officials and Congressional Republicans stand firmly against this essential economic relief.

Economists have argued that the relief checks provided financial security for citizens suffering from unemployment. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin talked about the impact of the stimulus checks: “he just said that when he went around the country, people came up and thanked him for it. It seemed to have made a difference to them,” Sen. Bill Cassidy reported. The director of the White House National Economic Council has expressed concerns saying that checks should only be sent to people who need it the most and not necessary to all 160 million Americans who received money in the first round.

Senator Kevin Cramer made a case for stimulus checks: “Direct check, or direct infusion of discretionary money—whether for rent or something more discretionary—would in fact have a stimulating effect and it could be very helpful to people getting through a rough patch.” Sign this petition to urge the government to approve a second round of stimulus checks.

Dear Director Kudlow,

There is absolutely no way for the government to guess as to what bills individual American families are struggling to pay during these times of significant unemployment and economic downturn. Additionally, many Americans need immediately accessible money for things like rent and food. The context of our nation has not positively changed since the first stimulus checks were granted. We are still facing staggering unemployment rates and we are still battling a global pandemic. If Americans were in financial need in March, they are still in financial  need now.

I urge you to side with the president and to approve a second round of stimulus checks for US tax payers in need. These discretionary funds are necessary for the economy.
