Save Newly Discovered Monkeys from Extinction

Target:  Lee Chuan Seng, Chairman, National Environment Agency, Singapore

Goal: Protect two newly discovered monkey species from extinction at the hands of palm oil plantations.

Two monkey species recently discovered in Singapore are already critically endangered and facing extinction. The banded langur, once thought to be a single distinct species, has been discovered to actually be three unique species: the Raffles banded langur, the East Sumatran banded langur, and the Robinson’s banded langur. All of them are facing danger and death.

The Raffles banded langurs specifically have decreased in population by over 80 percent since the late twentieth century. Only 300 remain left in the world, with 60 left in Singapore, once their most popular home. Deforestation driven by palm oil plantations has spurred this population decline. They have been classified by conservationists as “critically endangered,” meaning they need assistance now in order to thrive. The East Sumatran banded langurs are also critically endangered.

These species have had a long and rich history, just now being fully discovered and appreciated by scientists. They must be protected or they will disappear forever. Sign the petition to demand that the species be protected from deforestation, habitat loss, and extinction.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chairman Lee Chuan Seng,

Two newly discovered species of banded langur are already facing imminent extinction, driven mostly by habitat loss and deforestation caused by palm oil plantations. Only several hundred of the Raffles banded langur remain on the planet, with only several dozen left in your nation. They, along with the East Sumatran banded langur, have been classified as “critically endangered.”

To lose these species just as they are fully being understood and appreciated would be a tragedy. I ask that you protect these species from extinction at the hands of palm oil plantations and deforestation.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. With so much info out there regarding how the enormous use of palm oil is devastating so many species including our oxygen due to deforestation, it continually proves that Man’s priorites are insanely skewed. We are doing a horrendous job in being in charge of this planet. It is sickening to read that in 2020 we still have not progressed in all that really matters. I hope for their sakes we “wake up”.

    • Totalmente de acuetdo contigo. La raza humana está completamente degenerada y ya no merece vivir en este planeta

    • … and stop human greediness!

    • Rachel Davies says:

The human species should be culled. It does not deserve a place on this planet. It simply destroys everything in its path, not through ignorance but greed. Let the animals have it to themselves. Humans have become so flawed there is no turning back. China has played a big part in this and I fear will play an even bigger role in our destruction.

Let the monkeys live where they are. Stop all the plantation and deforestation

    • amen to this….why are humans always killing our wildlife? what have they done to cause you to be so quick to kill? get a hobby, not kill animals.

This planet is in trouble and nobody cares. So damn saddd. All that matters is MONEY. The innocent always suffers. Including, EARTH. WAKE UP PATHETIC HUMANS.

  5. PLEASE PROTECT this PRECIOUS MONKEY SPECIES from extinction at the hands of palm oil plantations.
These monkeys must be protected or they will disappear forever. Their WORST ENEMIES are – DEFORESTATION, HABITAT LOSS, PALM OIL PLANTATIONS AND EXTINCTION. SURVIVAL of these monkeys is SINGAPORE’s OBLIGATION.

  6. How many more animals have to suffer for the sake of palm oil!

  7. Isobel doyle says:

It is so important for our world and future generations to save these beautiful creatures.
God DDT I’d not put them here just for man to destroy and do away with them. Shame on us for allowing that.

  8. Shirley Lemieux says:

It is a shame that destruction of a species habitat are wiping out certain species. Hopefully, Singapore will respond.

  9. Jose Espino says:

This is a quote from the Matrix movie, where Agent Smith tells Morpheus the conclusion he has come to about humans on his time on earth. He was right on the dot.

Agent Smith: I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

    Could Covid-19 be the cure?

It’s not like they were only just “created”. They were discovered to be a separate species, them being critically endangered isn’t surprising like we’ve done it to them since discovering their differences, they were critically endangered whether we knew they were different species or not.
No one has the right to enslave, abuse, exploit, or murder any other animal, for any reason.
You wouldn’t do it to humans, and don’t do it to other animals. It’s that simple.

    PROTECT THE ANIMALs!

Animals are so far superior to humans who have NO RIGHT TO EXPLOIT AND ABUSE ANIMALS THOSE THAT DO SHOULD PAY — SICK FREAKS WOULD HURT ANY ONE AND ANY ANIMAL TO LINE THEIR POCKET!!!!!
