Don’t Allow Solar Energy to Be Undermined By Crooked Lobbyists

Target: Neil Chatterjee, Chairman of the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Goal: Don’t destroy incentives that make solar energy cost efficient and appealing to consumers.

Solar energy could become less cost efficient for consumers, if the fossil-fuel industry has its way. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is considering a petition demanding the termination of net metering, which allows solar energy users to sell their excess energy to power grids to offset the costs of panel installation and maintenance. Net metering allows state lawmakers to encourage the use of solar energy by homeowners who might otherwise balk at the cost of the technology.

Ending net metering will result in making the technology less appealing to homeowners and driving up dependence on coal and natural gas when their abandonment is most crucial. The New England Ratepayers Association, which filed the petition, has known ties to climate science-denying politicians, as well as to major producers of dirty energy. They do not act in the interest of consumers or the environment, but only on behalf of the wealthy and powerful eager to wreck the planet for profit.

The FERC has no business outlawing a local matter while undermining solar energy when it’s needed most. Sign the petition below to demand that this petition be ignored.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Chatterjee,

Net metering is a vital incentive to encourage the use of solar panels in homes and businesses across the nation, making the installation and maintenance of panels affordable and appealing. Banning the practice would rob states of the right to determine their green energy policies and push consumers towards the use of fossil fuels when the United States has a significant responsibility to grow beyond them.

The New England Ratepayers Association is a known ally of companies and actors who benefit from coal and natural gas. They have no right to speak for the millions of people who rely on net metering. I demand that you dismiss this petition and work to make green energy affordable to all.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. We need more solar power no question!!
We the people don’t want oil or coal!! More solar NOW!!

  2. It appears the New England Ratepayers Association (NERA) is a shell company for Koch Industries. Members pay dues of over $100,000 per year. I don’t see any regular homeowners “shelling” that out. Google it.

    So stop the monster bastards.

It would not be a good thing for the oil babies, that’s why is not happening.
