Stop Ignoring Surging Coronavirus Deaths

Target: Jair Bolsonaro, President of Brazil

Goal: Don’t reopen Brazil’s borders when coronavirus infection and death rates continue to rise.

President Jair Bolsonaro has threatened to reopen Brazil’s borders, despite the fact that coronavirus infection and death rates are still rising. Medical experts have warned that the outbreak is still far from its peak.

Bolsonaro has established a history of defiance toward coronavirus restrictions and has largely dismissed the health crisis. As a result, infection and death rates in Brazil are the highest in Latin America, averaging at around 200 fatalities per day in just the last four days. Bolsonaro recently fired his health minister after disagreements over when to reopen. The president concedes that the country’s economy is struggling, while many others say the protection of human lives is more important.

As death tolls continue to rise due to Covid-19, Brazil cannot risk reopening. Sign below to demand President Bolsonaro put off reopening the country until coronavirus infection and death rates begin to fall.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Bolsonaro,

You continue to dismiss the severe health crisis in your country, despite the fact that coronavirus cases in Brazil are higher than any other country in Latin America.

You must put the health and well being of Brazilian citizens ahead of the economy. I demand that you cease to reopen Brazil’s borders until coronavirus infection and death rates begin to fall.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
