Target: Ronald Thiessen, CEO and Director of Northern Dynasty Mineral Ltd
Goal: Cancel proposed open-pit mine in Alaska that would threaten the brown bear population.
Alaska’s brown bear population is in danger of losing its habitat to a proposed gold and copper mine. The controversial Pebble Mine would take up thousands of acres of wetlands and miles of stream; not only would the bears ingest mass amounts of pollution given off by the machinery, but the chemical runoff would endanger and possibly kill the salmon living in the streams.
This project is unacceptable and unethical. Not only are mines one of the leading causes of pollution and biodiversity loss, but bears as a whole have been threatened too many times over the past decade. Alaska currently boasts one of the healthiest brown bear populations in the world, and the Pebble Mine could completely wipe them out by destroying their habitat and food supply. Too many wild species have been misplaced by mines and other similar projects, causing death and illness and starvation.
The well-being of Alaska’s brown bear population is more important than finding luxury ores. Sign this petition to urge Northern Dynasty Mineral Ltd, the company behind the project, to cancel these plans immediately and put nature first.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Director Thiessen,
Your company’s Pebble Mine project poses a major threat to Alaska’s brown bear population. Bristol Bay, where the bears make their home, is a vital part of the state’s natural backdrop for many reasons. The lakes boast a healthy supply of salmon and thousands of acres of untouched wilderness that your proposed mine will destroy in one fell swoop.
Bears as a whole have been threatened with habitat loss and starvation over the past decade. Right now, the planet needs biodiversity and natural spaces more than it needs luxury ores and the dangerous mines that produce them. Cancel plans for it now and put nature first.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

Get out and stay out of Alaska! The last frontier that is reasonably untouched. Everyone wants to benefit – America Russia Canada – leave it alone you all messed up enough of the world!
Director Thiessen how would you like to be remembered? Just like another official that couldn’t care less or someone significant that preserved an area – perhaps ever bearing you name with pride!
