Grant College Students Financial Assistance During Coronavirus Crisis

Target: Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House

Goal: Ensure that college students are included in receiving stimulus money.

Most college students were left behind by the first Coronavirus stimulus package, as any who could be claimed as dependents were not given any of the money. This is an oversight that cannot be allowed to be repeated.

Far too many college students also work and are without their incomes because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Status as a legal dependent should not disqualify someone from receiving stimulus money. If you earn an income and pay taxes, you should be getting paid like everyone else. Sign our petition and make sure that college students aren’t forgotten by the next stimulus.

Dear Speaker Pelosi,

You are doing your best as Speaker of the House to make sure that working Americans are taken care of when it comes to coronavirus stimulus bills, but so far college students have been left behind.

Despite being claimed as dependents by their parents for tax purposes, many college students rely on their personal incomes to get by. This includes paying for rent, utilities, and food, like any other working adult. They should not be exempt from getting the help that everyone else is getting.

Don’t forget about college students in the next stimulus bill.
