Veteran’s Service Dog Shot in Face Deserves Justice

Target: Kirsten H. Pabst, County Attorney for Missoula County, Montana

Goal: Punish the person who shot a veteran’s service dog three times in the shoulder, face, and head.

A veteran’s service dog suffered serious injuries to the head and shoulder when he was shot by an unknown assailant. The 2-year-old German Shepherd disappeared and was found days later with multiple, painful gunshot wounds. Demand that justice is served for this innocent animal.

“It’s amazing for what he’s been through that he still trusts everybody,” stated Cassidy Russell, Missoula County Animal Control Officer. They picked Lucca up around Cote Lane, a significant distance from his home with a local veteran, after they received reports of a stray dog. Lucca suffered gunshot wounds to the face, head, and shoulder and had a bullet removed from his jaw. He is receiving ongoing veterinary care and support to aid in his recovery.

Miraculously, Lucca survived, but the person responsible for this malicious cruelty is still at large and possibly dangerous to other animals. Sign below and demand that this person is prosecuted, once identified, and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Dear County Attorney Pabst,

A service dog named Lucca was shot three times in the face, head, and shoulder after disappearing from his home with a Missoula County veteran. The 2-year-old German Shepherd was picked up quite a distance away, indicating that he may have been abducted prior to the shooting. He is recovering, thanks to Missoula Animal Control, but the person responsible for this horrific cruelty is still at large and possibly dangerous to the county’s animals.

Malicious cruelty to an animal is something that cannot be tolerated. Across the country, cruelty offenders are facing felony charges and harsher penalties for their established involvement in the suffering of innocent animals. In Lucca’s case, the person found responsible should be granted the same fate.

I demand that you prosecute this case, once the perpetrator is identified, and seek the maximum penalty possible, should they be found guilty.

  1. That cretin needs to be sentenced to a 50 year sentence for two counts of attempted murder, 30 for discharging a weapon in an unlawful manner, 20 years for aggravated assault, fined $200,000, force to pay restitution for medical costs and $750,000 for pain and suffering. So a 100 year sentence for that cretin would be quite fair.

I like the way you think. And you provided a very real perspective of how to punish the POS that did this to Lucca. However, as much as I like your sentencing it would never be in the world of animals. Unfortunately, the laws don’t look at dogs & cats the way we owners do. We consider them family and our loved ones, but so many others don’t. I hope they can find this miserable piece of slime asshole and I hope he/she gets whats coming to them. If your way doesn’t work, perhaps they can dig a nice big 6 ft hole in the ground and put them in without food or water and treat them like the piece of shit they are. Oh, I’m sorry that’s no humane, so I guess we’ll have to go with the law. Let’s pray they find the person who did this soon.

This disgusting individual needs to be found!
Somebody knows who shot this dog. Talk of such a cruel deed
    ultimately surfaces.
Find this asshole and use him for target practice!!!

  3. Capital punishment for this monster needs to be implemented. Then this will STOP!!

  4. Jose Espino says:

A sign of an asshole with a gun, is that one that shoots at things that can’t shoot back. That’s why the second amendment is not for everyone.

  5. There is someone who knows this person who shot this service dog 3 times. People who do these despicable acts of cruelty to defenseless animals always talk or brag about it at some point. If you happen to be that person, tell the authorities so the POS will be locked up and prosecuted. Poor dog did not deserve this treatment. On the other hand, the shooter deserves punishment times 3!

  7. Janet Garraghan says:

Why the hell is this perpetrator still at large! Why haven’t they been found, arrested and prosecuted! Find them, arrest them and prosecute them now! Don’t let them get away with it! Someone somewhere knows something! Stop shirking your responsibilities and act now! Whoever did this isn’t just a danger to animals, they’re a danger to society! If they can do this to a dog, they can do this to anyone! Only an evil, cruel monster could carry this heinous act out!

  8. these monsters are barbarians – devil brood –
