Don’t Disband Coronavirus Task Force While Pandemic Still Grows

Target: Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America

Goal: Don’t disband the White House coronavirus task force while the pandemic still grows.

The Trump administration announced plans to phase out the coronavirus task force and begin focusing on re-opening the United States economy. This comes after new estimates suggest that coronavirus deaths, which now exceed 70,000, could double by early August.

In justification of their decision, vice-president Mike Pence said, “It really is all a reflection of the tremendous progress we’ve made as a country.” The task force included daily briefings from Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx, who became a comforting symbol for Americans with hopes that the White House was taking the virus seriously.

Just a day after the announcement, President Trump contradicted his comments, saying that the task force would “continue on indefinitely with its focus on safety and opening up our country again.” During this profound time of uncertainty, Americans need a clear message as to how the country will continue to respond to Covid-19. Sign below to demand President Trump refrain from disbanding the task force until deaths from the virus decline.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Trump,

Your administration has sent mixed messages as to whether or not the coronavirus task force will remain. Americans have relied on the briefings of Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx for comfort and medical advice.

Evidence suggests that the U.S. has yet to reach its peak in Covid-19 cases. Therefore, I demand that you refrain from disbanding the coronavirus task force until the virus begins to level out.

Sincerely,

We haven’t leveled off and there are new cases every day, so now is not the time to pull back briefings from doctors that know more about this pandemic than Trump/Pence ever will.
